Batman-2 trains
Deja Vu-Open with 1 train all day (of course)
Flashback-Open all day (didn’t ride though)
Gold Rusher-2 trains
Goliath-3 trains
Revolution-2 trains
Riddler-3 trains
Viper-3 trains
X-2 trains
The kiddies-not sure because I really don’t care
Colossus and Scream-not open yet (no huge loss)
The only rides that were not running multiple trains were Superman (25 min wait acceptable), Psyclone (10 min wait acceptable), and Ninja (the only ride that I wished was running another train, 45 min wait but still worth it). I only rode 10 out of the 16 coasters and still managed to have a fantastic time.
I don’t like the sounds of things lately, though. The middle of summer with only 1 train on Riddler? Superman still closed? Maybe it isn’t a good time to go...

And my question is, why?Why does the SF corporation neglect this park for customer service? Why do they plop a bunch of coasters in this park? Why, if they have a bunch of competition in that market, do they continue to displease guests?
You know, I actually question how much SFMM really displeases their average guest. The place attracts a very, how shall I say it, ghetto crowd. If you're living in a crappy apartment in Van Nuys or Compton, you're used to things being boarded up and looking like sh*t. And, all that time in long lines due to one-train ops? More time to flash gang signs, smoke weed, carve graffiti, and make out with your girlfriend!
I'd wager that your average Magic Mountain customer doesn't even notice that the park is in decline. They get a few rides on X, Deja or Goliath and they're good for another year.

OMG, I'm a CreHo.
I've been to SFMM twice in the past year and have yet to see much if any of these activities you mention. Maybe it's because there's now a big sign out front that reads, "If you're from Compton or Van Nuys, go back to your shanties!"
If you can’t handle the crowd type, I’d simply suggest you head to Disney or Bofante.
Superman, Flashback, Metro, Sky Tower, and Sierra Twist were closed; there were engineers working on Sierra Twist when I walked by. There were 2 trains on all of the coasters except Deja Vu (which only operates 1), Batman, and Riddler. All coasters were walk-ons except for X, DV, Batman, and Riddler.
The park was spotlessly clean, and considering the time of day after a busy Sunday, this was very impressive. I rode all of the operating adult coasters that night except Batman and Riddler (due to the lines), Psyclone (no thanks) and X, which I was planning to get in line for at about 9.50pm before the park closed at 10pm. As I said, the line was blocked off and there was a sign up saying you must be in line by 9pm. This was the only thing that pissed me off, because I thought it was Six Flags policy to close the lines at the time the park closes.
I went back to the park on Monday and got on the first train of the day on X and it was absolutely fantastic, and I didn't find it rough at all. I then went to do Riddler and Batman. Monday had light crowds and all the coasters were running 1 train. I went to Knott's the following day and they were running one train on everything as well. SFMM added a 2nd train to X and Goliath about 1pm, as did KBF to Ghostrider, which had a 60 minute line prior to that.
Oh, and there were NO gangs, and never have been on any of my visits.
Thumbs up. *** Edited 8/3/2004 5:47:00 PM UTC by Grant***
All this time I thought I was just comfortable.
Now, for MY most recent positive SFMM experience. It was the trip to SoCal and Vegas, I'm thinking it was later in the season in '02 when the park is weekends only, including Fridays....(ironically, the only time I've seen even a test run of Flashback). I didn't get to ride Flashback, but I did get THREE rides on X inside of an hour. Soon after, the schoolkids overran the place and wait times skyrocketed...
Other than that, and *certain aspects* of the Con, most of my GOOD experiences at the Mountain were due to being with GREAT people in my group, not due to anything the PARK had done or was doing....
The single-training that has become a hallmark of the park is a BIG reason that the vandalism has gotten so out of hand, and it is a REALLY bad idea to let wait times get out of hand to save a few dollars on maintenance and employees.
Consider yourself lucky. Very lucky. Sounds to me the only smart thing SFMM is doing these days is not opening that neck-breaking-whiplash-inducing-spine-busting pile-o'-crap. Now if they'd just go the extra mile and tear it down.
Oh, wait - that would affect their "coaster count". And cost money, too ...

... Scream! Does the thing ever run three trains or is one still in pieces?
There is no need to run 3 trains, mid-day on a crowded Sunday, it was a walk-on w/ a 2 train wait for front row.

Right. So everybody that lives in Compton and Van Nuys are a bunch of gang-banging, pot-smoking, vandalizing low-lifes, and they all hang out at Magic Mountain. Brilliant.
Not everyone. Just the ones that go to Magic Mountain.

"Did you see a sign out in front of my park that said dead ***** storage????"

So you expect them to just turn away the “ghetto” crowd?
Of course not. I'm not that naive.

Done and done. I've visited both of those parks a LOT more than SFMM in the past three years.

One train operation seems like a much more valid of a complaint, but that's just me!
