RCT 2 Hands-On (from E3)

Having just come from the E3 show, I got to check out the game and try a few things. I probably should have gotten a list of things from all of you to check, but anyway...

The 4D coaster is really neat the way you can set up every piece of track with the angle you want the seats to be positioned. The Intamin track was such a welcome sight. Not any new flat rides were there to be seen, but the brand manager I talked to said there may be some added before the final build. No promises. There was an insane (yet cool) looking inverted/launched/intamin track (like Wicked Twister), but they completed a full circuit of the ride. It launched from the station, twisted straight up, then rode up high across the top, and straight down a twisted spike into the station. The nice thing I noticed is that it seems you can set the number of times the ride will go through the station (so we can actually set it up to run like S:UE or Wicked Twister!).

The sheer number of coasters there are now is incredible! There are a bunch of variations on pretty much each one as well. The addition of the actual Six Flags parks (5 at this point) is quite authentic. Everything is placed right where it should be! Another cool thing was the tower (with large elevator) that can take you guests up to a higher level to either board rides or just walk around a lookout area. When someone was making an S&S Space Shot, we had it zoomed out and he was able to send the top right off the screen. Not sure if that was a glitch or not.

It's coming along well!

How long is the wait time from this point?

Any word on when a demo might be released? Also what improvements have been made to the track editor? I'm hoping that we will be able to bank the track much more smoothly than in RCT.
Do you know which 5 parks there are? I think we all know that MM is in it, but what other ones will there be?

-----------------
Whats more reliable? Deja Vu, or RCT running without a error trapper?

I heard theres the B&M flyer and intamin pipeline coasters in there???

is that true?

Fler

Can you set the angle of the lift and drop on any coaster?
I have never heard of an Intamin pipeline....Did you perhaps mean Aarow or is it something completely different?

As Jeff already said, I'm glad to hear that one of us got to try it out!

I do have a few questions for ya. I realize that some of them may be unanswerable since you only played the Alpha version.

First of, were any rides or themeing from the original games removed?

Secondly, did you notice anything new or different that we didn't already see?

And finally, if included in the game, what new shops/stalls/restaurants were there?

Hope you had fun at E3!

BATWING FAN SFA, I don't think they changed the banking systems from what the pictures show. Maybe the updated graphics will make it look better.

I want to know:
1.What 5 SF parks where added?
2. Where the peeps AI any better?
3. Is the height realistic?
and 4. How exactly do you control the 4D seats.

Looking at the screenshot of Deja- vu there's a woodie right next to it that appears to have banked track the entire length of the drop, also it looks like we won't be able to do Deja-vu with the loop crossing over the station. It looks more like a mirror image invertigo with vertical lifts, still it looks great though.

an intamin pipeline is like the arrow pipeline but is operating at a park in kuwait

the park is called al shaab leisure park and holds the worlds only intamin pipeline coaster

it has 4 inversions and is tire driven, the link i think i ust posted has a video on it

Shady Z...

Although I know it's usually loud and crowded at the E3... when you got to test out RCT2, did you happen to notice if the sound FX changed a little or a lot... and if the animation is actually better than before??

-----------------
....Summer is only a short 91 days long. How much of that time are you going to use at the amusement parks??

Wow!!! So many questions. I wish I could answer them all easily. However, I'll try...

All rides an themes from the first game are intact. Other notes are that for MM, they had a recreation of the Goliath stone ground sign as a landscaping piece to be used! You can also now make your own ground signs for your attractions (much like the way you made the pathway signs before).

For the parks other than MM, he said SFA, one from Texas (not sure which), a European one, and one other which I can't remember. However, he mentioned that they were trying to get all of the SF parks if they can. I'd say there's a good bet that SFWOA may be in there.

For the 4D trains, each track piece has the option to tilt the seats in any angle you choose.

Peeps AI, couldn't notice a difference, but that may take playing it for a while to notice, same with the animation. Most of the animations seemed the same (still have the puking patrons). And the sound was too hard to hear, Jeff can try asking the BM when he gets an opportunity (there you go Jeff, at least one of many questions to have answered). I hope that by the looks of it, you'll be able to download your own MP3s to utilize, but I can't promise that.

Oh yeah, the ducks still quack and you can still drown the idiots that get lost if you want. :-)

-----------------

If SFA is one of the featured parks then I'm definitely going to enjoy this game.
the texas one is SfoT
How about sounds? Everyone seems so caught up in appearence that we've completly forgot about 'em. Are the coaster sounds any different?

That woulb be awesome if they had SFoG in there, not only for my personal reasons, since its my home park, but since that would mean we'd get a Beemer Flyer.

One can only hope...

I could have sworn, Ozzyhead, that in my post which is just like 3 or 4 posts above yours... that I asked about sound FX...

...unfortunately, it was too loud at the E3 to hear it. I know that's true because IGN & Gamespot have footage of games from E3, and sometimes you can't hear nuttin' except the people around you!!!

If SFMM , SFOT , SFA and SF Holland are 4 (out of 5) parks that will be in the game , then that pretty much sux , coz we'll be seeing lots of Vekoma SLC and Boomerangs, and no more than 3 (!) B&M coasters : 2 Batman The ride coasters (inverted classic) and 1 Standup coaster - Riddler's Revenge... - which will probably end up like 4D - without the inclined loop and probably a screwed up Dive Loop :\

I REALLY hope that Chris Sawyer can put SF Over Georgia and SF Great Adventure in the game - so we can have some interesting coasters , like a B&M Flyer (S:UF) and Medusa , or something like that...

Not the the 4D has an inclined loop or dive loop , it just looks screwed up a bit , something which is LIKELY to happen to Riddler's Revenge...
