Queue-a-Vision

Busch Williamsburg still has TV's in lines for the coasters explaining the story for each ride. It was something to pass time in line- I wish more parks would do the same.

Just one more reason why the Busch parks are superior to other parks.

I think more queue tv's should be in existence but there's the obvious problem with vandalism (gum, etc. thrown on the screens) to contend with.

When I was at Carowinds in 1999, they had TVs in the line for Hurler just as they do at PKD. They might not have them anymore though since it's been a while.

Almost all of the rides at SFoG have them. Not all of them are on, though. The Cyclone is rarely on, yet every time I rode the Sky Buckets there they were playing music clips or Powerpuff Girls or something..

There aren't any on S:UF, but they have the cool comic cutouts for you to read. The longest line I've ever waited in was at Parasite. Poor Mr. Mxyztplk, nobody ever gets to read his sign...:)

Sea World Ohio used to have TV's in the queue for Mission to the Bermuda Triangle. There were clips of underwater plants and fish. There was also a description of the "submarine" you were about to board and how to secure youself and any of your personal items. Is that ride still there now that its SFWOA? I haven't been there since Sea World's final season

Dollywood has TVs in line for there Simulator.

Carowinds also used to have TV's in line for there Hurler, but removed them after the Waynes World theming was removed.

Sea World in San Diego had a pretty good video showing info about exploration to the artic on wild artic. Then you saw loading instructions, very well done there too, and highly themed.

SFWoA still has the TVs in lines for some rides, mainly Double Loop that I can remember. Don't know how often, if ever they use them, though (Actually...it's been too long...are they actually *still* there? didn't go too many times this season)

Don't forget Hershey Park...They have TVs in a lot of lines, too. Of course, I mostly remember Lightning Racer's TVs..(Although Wildcat *is* the superior ride )

GADV has them in most of their older ride queues (before like 1997), and most of them arent even on any more. Sometimes they play music videos, but that was only on stuntman's freefall, and you cant even hear them with the trains roaring by. :(

-----------------
Don't Worry- Its ONLY 230 feet tall.

The TV's (actually a video wall) in Mission: Bermuda Triangle were there for theme... they were a "briefing" for your mission. In my 2 trips this year they were not working. I would hope that they normally work, as they help to explain the ride.
SFGAM has TVs in most of their lines. The newer coasters don't have them though. SFGAM doesn't use most of them but when they do use them they play cartoons, music videos, and commercials. I think they were used a lot more back in the Warner Brothers days.

As of last April BGW had them in at some of their queue lines (at least 1). I remember looking up at the screens while in line for Loch Ness Monster.

Back in the late 1970's (or was it the early 1980's?) Hersheypark used to have them in at least one queue... Coal Cracker. I can remember because the one day we were there all they played were country music videos ("yeeee - freakin' - haaaa'... talk about painful!). If memory serves, they still have some in the queue for Lightning Racer. Not sure of anythign else though. I don't really pay attention to them when they are there... hardly miss them if they are not.

Kind of hard to take a post as objective if a park or coaster name is part of the "user name"

Carowinds' 7th Portal has this really really cheesy video of Stan Lee popping up and getting all excited and perky about his comic books and how they decided to make his comic books into the motion simulator ride. And the bad part is the queue lines are always very short but take sooo long to get in so you have to watch the thing over and over again. The ride wasn't worth it either.

Yes the tv's are still mounted around the queue. They are never turned on and some of the actual tv's were missing out of the thing they were mounted on. They are still around from when they were popular at Geauga Lake park in the the RWB line, Double Loop, and Log Ride if I remember correctly.

Jazzland (SFNO) used to have giant flat screen TVs in some queues and stations until '02 I wonder where they all went? hmm... Anyhow at first they used to play the test pattern, which was very entertaining. Then they played some MTV sponsored music videos. The last I've seen of them they were used to show parts of the park, some onride footage of Mega Zeph, and display public announcements of upcoming events and shows. They were hardly ever used. There were quite a few of them all around.

TV's are nice sometimes but some of the krap PKI plays gets on my nerves. It really gets on my nerves when you see the same stuff played over and over all day and the same thing every time you go. I would like it if they just played some local tv station or even espn. I really like the CP dj idea. The line seems to move faster and better with some music rather than the Q TV which PKI has that you can barly hear any way

The cleveland browns suck, if its brown flush it down, Go Bengals!

Hersheypark has them at least in the lines for Coal Cracker, Comet, Fender Bender, Kissing Tower , Lightning Racer, and Monorail.

When the park was Geauga Lake, they had TV's in line for Corkscrew, Big Dipper, Wolf Bobs and Double Loop. I know I've seen the boxes that held the TV's in the queues for Bobs and DL, but the TV's are gone.

I think that TV's in queues are a good idea. They keep me entertained if my enthusiast friends aren't doing anything moronic at the time...:)

Dreamworld has them in most of the new rides, but 6 months after the ride debuts, they are no longer used. Cyclone had several TV's which played news reports, starting with "the weather is sunny", and eventually to a "class four cyclone headed to Dreamworld". They were actually sponsored by one of the major TV channels in Australia, so they were pretty authentic and had the real weather lady for the Gold Coast. They aren't turned on anymore though... every time I enter the station, it is a bit depressing to see the 8 Poineer DVD players and serperate Amplifiers for each, being used for nothing whatsoever.

Movie World has two large rear-projection screens playing the making of Scooby Doo (probably on the DVD release of the movie), for Scooby-Doo Spooky Coaster. Lethal Weapon has nothing in the queue, but the entrance is themed to a Chinese theatre, so once you're inside, they sit you down and you watch a 5 minute scene from Lethal Weapon 2. Wild Wild West used to play a promotional video that told you to buy WB Western Classics. That may have been taken out since they lost the Wild Wild West license, because my past few visits you've just walked through the video room with everything turned off.

They tend to get pretty tedious after a few visits, especially the forced ones at Movie World, and maybe this should go in the 'You know you're' thread, but I know the words to them off-by-heart. "You're looking at a place that can be any place, east or west of the mighty Missisippi, north or south of the whole new continent. It's been Dodge City, Cheyenne and a whole lot of others...."

So what if the best coaster in Australia is a second hand Arrow?

I can't fault CP for trying something new, but I didn't like the DJs in line. They never played any music I like. mostly that's because it has to be family friendly, but the real problem is that you can't appeal to everyone's tastes. SF is no better when playing cartoons on their TVs, but at least they don't blast the sound over the line the way CP does.

I say, if you're going to put TVs in the line then just go the whole nine and put together a program for it. Universal got it right when they made the TVs a part of the story of the ride, but even if the ride is unthemed, you could put something together for it.

one last thing concerning CP's music choice, what's so un-family friendly about Korn? ;)
