PS2 mats

For all of you who have ordered new DDR pads here are some helpful instructions to keep it in proper working order.
lol - I posted those instructions somewhere deep in the "DDR bug has hit hard" thread.

Cool! I'm glad I didn't order the single pad last week. Now I can get both for the discounted price.

We had an extra pad sitting in it's box by the front door, but it wasn't really ours. We gave DDR to my 15 year old niece for xmas, and because Best Buy had the pads on back order (it was my husband's idea to order from BB), we ultimately gave her our old original pads until we could order a better one. I was sorely tempted to claim that pad until my sister in law stopped by to pick it up.

I told my niece when she opened her gift that DDR is a major way to connect with the boys. She's now hooked on the game. Oh...and she LOVES roller coasters.

I got those new pads today. Don't order them. "Arcade size circuitry" my ass. The buttons are the same as the other ones, not going all the way to the center square.

Furthermore, the foam is so damn thick that you can't get it in the pad. I ripped the corner of one of them, and they're so tight that they curl up.

I'm going to have some words with the folks at Cyphergames...

Glad I checked back. Guess I'll just tape up the one ripped pad and use it for a while.

I've got these, and they've been working 100% since October under reasonably heavy use:

Will probably buy these next:

So Jeff, you got the second one and don't like it. Is it still better than the first link?

Yes, they are better because the foam is thicker and more dense. It feels less soft (a good thing). I'm just pissed about the buttons not actually being the size they advertised.

Bastards haven't responded to my e-mail either, so I guess now I'll have to dispute the charge for not delivering the advertised product. Maybe that'll get them to respond.

Now, I have been thinking about getting another metal pad, but I just checked eBay (where I got my first one), and there are none for less than $150 now. Mine was $100. What is up with that? And, NONE of them have bids. Aren't they getting the hint?

Has anyone tried the metal pad sold on the Cyphergames site?

At the rate I'm going, I'm going to need to buy an arcade machine.

Everyone who posts in this forum should get together and buy a DDREX, and we could place it in a neutral location. I suggest my house. ;)

Well, I played DDRMax at school today (kid brought it in and we played with the assistance of a projector [big screen, baby]). So yea, I've got the dough to buy the game, just gotta cough up the cash to get a pad, think I can survive with the controller 'til then?

Funny you mention that, SFNE Freak. I work at a university in the computer labs, and we regularly have parties for our student lab monitors. Since one of our computer classrooms has a projection system, the lab supe and I have discussed the possibility of setting up DDR in that room for the next party.

I'm a high school youth group sponsor at my church, and we often play DDR in the church sanctuary. We use the huge screen that is normally used for projecting song lyrics, and we use the speaker system, too. It's pretty awesome. The only problem is that the screen is so high that you almost have to crane your neck to see. :)

btw I'd like to report that I'm solely repsonsible for making DDR popular among my church's youth. At least four families, including my minister, have purchased the game and pads since I brought it to youth group the first time in the fall. ;)

And I, as a proud coach, learned some of my volleyball kids are also proud owners now as well. Love to corrupt, er, I mean, encourage the youth.

Hey, better for them to be playing DDR than Vice City.

There is nothing wrong with Vice City unless you're a thug. I'm a little preppy who just likes to drive around and see how many stars I can get before the Police kill me. ;)

I coach High School Girls Basketball and Mixed Flag Football Coach here in New Zealand and they love Arcade DDR.

Unfortunately we dont get any of the Home DDR stuff for PS and PS2, but I'm planning to pick up some when I'm in the States next month.

Jeff, I'd love see the final outcome of your mat dilemma because until I read your replies, I was about to order Ignition 2.0's.

As for buying, well our arcade supplier rents Bemani games for parties, promos etc howeever at $300/night that is a bit beyond my means! :(

Still no reply, so I'll have to dispute the charge.
