Processing CF Platinum Passes @ other CF parks

Good evening -

I received an email from Kings Island on 3/20/09 in regards to processing Cedar Fair Platinum Passes. I have been informed that a guest can bring their CF Platinum Pass certificate (regardless of your home park) to any CF park that has opened before the passholders designated home park (CP/CF Platinum Pass holder going to Kings Island) and the pass will be processed. After the pass has been processed the pass holder can continue to use the CF Platinum Pass or they can have the pass swaped out for a pass from their "home" park.

The only negative to maintaining a pass from another park is that if you lose your pass, you must return to your "new" home park to get it replaced.

That's interesting. I understood it to be that you can gain entrance to another park by presenting the platinum pass voucher from your home park should you attend that park before you get your pass processed. But I don't think the other park will process it for you.

Tony and Tyler posted about it here.

My understanding matches Carrie's.

When I contacted Kings Island about it, they told me we can use the CP voucher ONCE to get into Kings Island then we had to process it at CP. So what if you were staying both Saturday and Sunday?

I contacted CP to clarify it but they never responded... Both times...

Last season, I processed my Cedar Point voucher at Kings Island. The voucher didn't scan, so they had me fill out another form and they gave me a Kings Island platinum pass voucher and processed it into a pass.

Then they gave me back the Cedar Point voucher.

I always meant to stop in at the pass office at CP and see if that voucher was still valid. Because that sure seemed like a mistake to me...!

I get the impression that there is very little communication between parks on how they are handling the platinum pass thing. I guess nothing has changed since my fiasco I encountered when trying to visit Knott's on a CP pass a while back.

I think they are squared away on how to handle the passes; it's the vouchers prior to when the pass is processed that seems to be drawing the confusion.

Dave, so when KI processed your CP voucher for you, did they issue you a KI Platinum Pass? I ask because while that is still valid for entry to all of the parks, I was thinking it wouldn't grant you the ERT perk CP offers for their pass holders. Is that accurate? Or does CP honor platinum passes from all parks for their early entry and ERT?

Actually, the early ERT at CP was ONLY for platinum passholders. Regular passholders used to have the Joe Cool club, that left before the start of last year and basically all the perks went to Platinum members. If you click HERE it will take you to this years Point Perks page, which has a listing of the current perks, but more are expected to be added later.

In a nutshell, a CP pass gets you into the park, that's it. A platinum pass gets your free parking and all the perks at all the CF parks, . (I.E. early entry at Wildwater Kingdom, or any other park that offers it)

HERE is a list of the 2008 perks that platinum pass holders had at ALL the CF parks last year. You can see that under CP it mentions that Exclusive Ride Nights is part of the deal, no matter where you got your PP from.

I contacted Kings Island many times in regards to using my voucher at their park. I had also contacted Cedar Point. At one point Cedar Point informed me that I could use my voucher at any of the parks as often as I needed. Kings Island informed me that was false and it was one a "one time use only." I suggested to Kings Island that they could be incorrectly limiting the use of a pass that I had purchased to gain unlimited access to their parks.

I read that post as well. I wish I could cut and paste the email I received from Kings Island in regards to this issue.

All I can suggest is to contact the park admissions managers at both parks.

That is good impression to have. The park admissions managers that I spoke to at Kings Island and Cedar Point seem to hear very different things in regards to this issue.

As far as benefits goes: A Cedar Fair Platinum Pass is a Cedar Fair Platinum Pass. They are all eligible for each park's benefits regardless of where you purchased or processed it.

Cool. Thanks, Ld and WOF, for the clarification.

It's been answered, but since it was directed at me...

Yes, I ended up with a Kings Island platinum pass. I don't know if I had morning ERT access at Cedar Point because in my 'old age' I don't think I got to the park before Noon on any day of the season...!

Got my 2008 Platinum voucher at CP and got my pass at MA.

Last Sep. when I "renewed" my Platinum for this year at MA they took my picture and issued my 2009 pass right then.

Based on logistics and feedback, the Platinum Pass processing policy was just recently changed (as in yesterday).

It is now true: you can process your Platinum Pass at any Cedar Fair park. However, we still encourage you to process your Platinum at the original park of purchase.

Obviously, if you're going to Kings Island on opening day and you purchased a Platinum Pass from Cedar Point, you have no choice, as our Season Pass Center opens the following week.

Tell your friends!

Thanks Tony---both for changing the policy, and for letting us know.

Now if he could only make kings island open on sunday of opening weekend.;)

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
