Priceline.com for Hotel Near Park (Mediocre Hotel Advertised as Upscale)

Note that Priceline allows the individual properties to rate themselves. I've found the ratings there much more generous than AAA's.

And in the last 6 months I'm finding better deals at the individual property websites or by calling direct.

Ha! Well, I think that says a lot about Pricline.

I agree with Gator on there being many "dive" hotels near BGT. Rich and I have certainly found our fair share of them. I absolutely love BGT, but trying to find a decent hotel in that area isn't easy.

LOL, one place we stayed there was some OBVIOUS prostitution and crack-dealing going on...now I'm a hardcore liberal, but even I'm not THAT liberal...;)

That place was simply too close to the Interstate (75), and we got suckered by the "under new mgt." sign out front.

"What, you got taken over by the Russian Mob? And that's something you wish to advertise?" ;)

Good hotel right by BGT - Embassy Suites. You may pay more than the Holiday Inn, but you get much more. They even have a shuttle bus that will take you basically anywhere near you want to go for free - BGT, restaurants, convienence stores, you name it. Friendly staff, great rooms, free happy hour, you name it.
I saw the Embassy Suites on the way to the park. THAT would have been nice.

Luckily, the hotel I am in now (also booked through Priceline) in Ft. Lauderdale really deserves its three stars. It is right on the beach, has nice staff, and is close to some great party attractions.

Now does anyone know of any decent coasters between here and Ohio that I could take a 1 hour detour for?

DB Hurricane, you're RIGHT there, just take 95 to the big wooden coaster, drive thru the seedy neighborhood to Boomers! and ride til your heart's content on the best woodie south of....hmmmm, Lake Winnie's Cannonball or Family Kingdom's Swamp Fox...:)

Perfect for a quick stop...;)

Everytime I go to stay at a hotel, I *try* and force myself to use pricelin/hotwire, but in the end, I just cant pull the trigger. I have to side with the hotel snobs on this one. I'll gladly pay 100-150 a night to have the piece of mind that I am staying in a good place. Sure yall might end up in the Hilton room right next to me at half the price, but the thought of being assed out in a substandard place just makes me mad thinking about it. I dont wallow in mediocraty in my *own* house. I'm *certainly* not going to PAY someone for that 'privillage'!

/hotel snob: preferably Hilton

2Hostyl - definitely agree. I hate the fact I have to "slum it" with a Hampton Inn in Williamsburg in a couple weekends. Embassy Suites was not available. I know they are part of the same Hilton chain, but it's just not the same. At least I got the "Hospitality Room" with the fridge and wet bar.
Listen, if you've never slept in Westin's "Heavenly Bed," you've never slept.

Most major chains of hotel are following suit and introducing new, more 'comfortable' bedding over the next year or so.

Mariott has already started rolling it out in certain properties.

The Sheratons have the pricier chain's bed, too, but call it something different. It is Heavenly. If you really score a good Westin, you will also get a Heavenly shower---dual shower heads, and a curtain bar that curves outward to keep the curtain from blowing on you while showering.

Friggin' awesome.

Sheraton's is called the "Sound Sleeper" or something like that. I know it has the word "Sleeper" in it. But it's the same bed.

I have taken a Heavenly Shower... very, very nice. But it's the bed that made me a loyal Westin customer.

Looks like I just got a dud in the hotel I mentioned at the beginning of the thread. I am extremely happy with the hotel I got in Ft. Lauderdale. Right across the street from the beach, and clean and comfortable. Also, being a former Doubletree helped.

Tomorrow night we got an amazing deal at an all suites Hiatt Regency in the southeast US. $185 room for $55. :)
