Not sure whether this has ever been suggested or tried. But is it possible to include a feature to allow people to preview their posts before they submit? I've seen this on other forums I follow. I think it would come in handy to make sure links are written correctly and save on a lot of later editing, especially for people like me who aren't versed in using forum codes.
And for some reason, I find it easier to proofread a post in its final, formatted form than in the edit box. No idea why. So I'd appreciate a preview function as well.
In the WYSIWYG editor, a preview wouldn't make a lot of sense, since it's mostly the way it will appear. The quotes are the thing that currently do not appear the same way.
That said, v9 will allow you to see the quotes as they'll appear before you hit submit. In fact, I hope to elevate quoting to an entirely new level.
I can't really give you a timeline though. It's a complete from-scratch rewrite, and it's already weighing in over 10k lines of code (half of that is test code, mind you). If you're curious and a .NET developer, you can check it out on CodePlex.
