Possible New Rides for Morey's Piers & Gilligin's

Rode Oldtown's Windstorm in March of 2001. It didn't jump out at me as being overly rough. Rode it twice. A few jerky parts where it changes directions quickly, but nothing horrible. BGT's Python sticks in my mind as beign the rough coaster during that trip, not Windstorm.

I was expecting sort of the same ride from Rye's Hurricane. I was wrong. My most painfull experience ever. Bumps Steel Phantom off of my most painful coaster list... I think it even knocks Chance Toboggan's off of my most detested list. Nothing enjoyable about it. Rode it, survived it with no broken neck or back injury or brain damage, never want to ride it again.

In the RCDB there is an "un opened" coaster listed for Rye called Wild Wind. It was installed but never opened and later removed and the note says "its forces were judged too extreme for Rye's guests" or something like that. IF they opened Hurricane, as rough as it is, I can't even fathom what this other coaster must have been like. The old Crystal Beach Cyclone had a nurse on stand by... a coaster rougher than Hurricane has got to have an undertaker on stand by in the station.

I was very disappointed by it, to say the least. What I thought would be something in the spirit of a Jet Star turned out to be an endurance test. Glad I rode it (just as I am glad about any coaster that I get to ride), but never had the desire to check it out again. Hence my reason for being hesitant about Old Town, although I will definitely check theirs out, thanks to your endorsement of sorts!

If they add something new, it has GOT to be better than the Hurricane!

I'm not a huge fan of Windstorms, but the Old Town version is FAR better than Rye's. One ride was more than enough as far as Rye's is concerned.

I think its just the fact that I want the credit for riding it, but I wouldn't be averse to taking a few spins if its a somewhat enjoyable experience!

The Windstorms all pale in comparison to the one at Celebration City....w0000t!

To think that it's the same basic ride as *that thing* at Rye....unbelievable...
