Possible New Rides for Morey's Piers & Gilligin's

If you log onto www.zamperlarides.com and then go to the used rides section. You will notice that Zamperla is selling Morey's Piers Breakdance ride, and Gilligin's Wonderland's City Jet Roller Coaster(for a great price). This could mean that new rides are on the way. Post your thoughts!

What time does the water show start?

Morey's always has a habit of replacing old rides with new ones of a similiar nature, so this is no surprise. Unless they are clearing space for something big...

Moreys RC-48 is on there as well, but even if Moreys removes both that and the Breakdance, they wont be a ble to fit a "larger" in that spot since a waterslide seperates them and the Breakdance was tucked in there as well.

That horrible Windstorm from Playland is in there too.

God, what some aweful coasters....

Getting rid of the RC-48 is a blessing. That is one of the worst coasters I've ever been on! It could be OK with lap bars, but it's brutal with OSTR's.

As I said before, I will say again...

Morey's just used the produciton number RC-48 for this coaster. IF they would have named it, they could have gone with a common (if sterotypical) New Jersey (or Joisey) theme... "The Godfather" "You ride my coaster, I break your knees. Cabish?"

Wasn't the OTSR's that got me.. it was the cramped seats and the way my knees were pummled by the back of the seat in front of me.

RC-48 was no "walk on the pier", so to speak, but Rye's Windstorm is one of the most God-awful pieces of....steel standing. Really, if someone were to buy it and fix the headrests (skullcrushers?), it could be a decent ride for some up-and-coming park...but I'm a sucker for Windstorms.

Thinking about what Morey's might be able to fit into a space is putting artificial limits on the park....even IB doesn't have the "packed in there" feeling of Morey's...

Strange that the City Jet was cheaper than FLITZER.

Better condition perhaps?

The RC-48 is an awful machine... I agree with everyone about the OSHRs, but also with SLFAKE about the cramped seats. The thing is not just uncomfortable, but downright painful. What a terrible shame that Morey's got rid of their Jet Star for that piece of trash. That thing couldn't sell fast enough and be replaced with something else. While the space isn't big enough for much, it could be used to place other flat rides in so that land could be cleared for something else. I know nothing about Morey's plans, but I do know that Morey's doesn't get rid of a coaster and not replace it with another one.

I am shocked- utterly shocked- as well as saddened, that the City Jet at Gillian's is up for sale. Ouch. As if the area hasn't lost enough Schwarzkopfs lately- the Morey Jet Star, the Casino Pier Jet Star and the Coney Island Jumbo Jet. I can imagine that Gillians would be replacing it with another coaster, though, as that is their only large coaster. I'd love to see that area used for the station for a Cornball Express-style wooden coaster (a little wishful thinking on my part).

Anyone know what Flitzer that is being sold? I know its not Morey's... maybe the one in Ocean City NJ?

If the pictures are accurate, it's not Playland's Flitzer. And it doesn't seem to be in RCDB anywhere either, unless it was on of the few where a picture is missing.

It actually looks like it may be portable. In the picture it's on wood blocks and the grass underneath is still green and long

Well, the Brake Dance is a good ride but i'm not too sad to see it go on Morey's Pier because they never ran it that well. The Break Dancer at Astroland however is the best flat ride i've ever been on because they run it like maniacs. If Morey's ran it the same way i'd be bawling right now lol

Also I think RC-48 had harnesses because of the extremely close supports. So close in fact that they tell you not to put your arms up!

I think that the OTSRs had to do with someone falling out of a ride somewhere in NJ a few years back (might have been Morey's Jet Star, now that I think about it). The "new" Zyklon on Mariner's Landing (Rollie's Coaster) also has OTSRs, and I don't think that any other Zyklons require them.

The website also shows a Hurricane roller coaster for sale, but it shows pictures of the Hurricane coaster at Rye Playland. Does this mean they are looking to get rid of it? I know that little coaster is the most painfull coaster I have ever rode. The way it whips those little turns I thought for a second I was pulling more G's then I have ever on any hyper coaster.

Also the lap bars are unpadded, and the car are so small. On top of all that it has huge headrest that it looks like riders are suppose to put their heads into. What ends up happening is riders hit their heads on it instead. It actally makes the ride worse.

I was wondering if it was Rye's coaster that is up for sale, or just "A Hurricane", and not "That Hurricane."

I rode that thing last summer and it was awful, which was too bad because it looked as though it had an interesting layout (I couldn't believe how tight some of those turns were!) If it is Rye's coaster, I would hope that it would get replaced by something (come on, rebuild the Aeroplane already).

Rye is selling their compact Hurricane coaster [SDC Windstorm, IIRC].

mOOSH- Any particular reason why? And do you know if they are replacing it with something else, or did the new Crazy Mouse kind of "replace" it?

Are all Windstorms as bad as that one? I'll be going to Old Town (FL) next month and want to ride theirs... should I be expecting more pain, or something a little more pleasant?

Rob - the Crazy [spinning] Mouse is history. It's not going to happen. Rye added a Zamperla ZigZag mouse this year, on the opposite end of the park across from the enclosed scrambler.

Rye will most certainly put something in the Hurricane's spot. Wish I could tell ya what that is, but I'm sure we'll all know soon enough.

When I said the Crazy Mouse, I was referring to the Zig-Zag coaster that was installed (I believe they call it the Crazy Mouse, even though its not the Reverchon version). Wish it was, though...

I respect you for not talking... I'll just quietly let my imagination run wild until that time comes ;)
