Points System

I am not new here, but I hardly ever posted until recently. I think a good idea for the site would be to do what link removed is doing. I am not trying to spam or anything and if this has to be closed down, so be it. I just thought it might be a great idea.

Instead of doing some of the things there doing. Say if you get 500,000 points you become a moderator or something. That could be a fun little idea to throw around.

I know this is your site Jeff and I am in no way trying to change that or be negative about what your doing with it. This is the best enthusiasts site ive been on so far. I think the idea for the points system could improve member response ever so slightly. *** Edited 4/18/2004 11:21:16 PM UTC by Jeff***

Does anybody really think there's a lack of posting here that constitutes a gimmicky points system?
That is a good idea but it will get confusing for the casual posters. Some of the store items were a bit weak and it would require more admin attention (since people might just post junk topics to get their post counts up to buy stuff).
Yeah, I don't think a major site would wanna bite off of a site called WeeWeeSlap.com.

I think their logo is better than this one though. lol

yeah you guys have a point, but what if you lose points if your topic gets closed?

You could also possibly gain points by going to Cbuzzcon or beastbuzz or other Coasterbuzz Sponsored events, or if you refer friends to buy a cbuzz membership. This could bring a lot of money into Coasterbuzz, which I am sure would help Jeff a lot in paying for a site that cost probably close to 5,000 dollars a year.

WeeWeeSlap? I really did wonder what that has to do with Rollercoasters. Maybe not the most appropriate name for a site but the site still has a good design.

I doubt a point system would bring more people into coasterbuzz. And the site would probably become
very messy with all the people posting useless threads to get points. Then it would just mean more
time out of the moderators life. I also doubt Jeff would just let anyone who posts a certain amount
of time become a moderator.

Edit: Anybody know how to use Netscape to post without making it looks all messed up? Or does anybody
know how I can make IE run faster because all of a sudden it took minutes to load one page and I'm on DSL.
Its weird how much faster Netscape goes.

A points system (and other dumb ass gimmicks) is exactly what this board doesn't need.

I'll leave the serious ripping apart to Jeff. :)

There will never be any points system or class system on CoasterBuzz, I'm sure of that. There are already enough posts on CB that are pointless, the last thing needed are more pointless posts made by people just trying to up their posts/points.

Tommy P.

Yeah, bad idea. The amount of spam and useless posts would rise to an all new high and smacktards would show up every 5 seconds with duplicate accounts to spam and send points to each other. There would need to be more moderators to subdue the idiocy, and it's just not worth it in the long run.
Yeah, that's all we need: threads full of mindless chatter and worse so that a bunch of pre- and post-adolescent boys can measure what tools, er, how cool they are with "points" and "winning".

Not broke? Don't fix!

people would post anything just to get points it would cause alot of spamming so people could become mods.

Any board that makes mods based on the number of posts they make is probably not even worth visiting.

The forum is a device for discussion, not competition. Every moderator here was hand picked because they never asked for it and wouldn't otherwise ever have any interest in being a moderator. That's the way it will stay.
