PNE Coaster Event Confirmed

I just received an an e-mail from Laura Ballance ,PNE Media Relations ,that the Coaster event has been confirmed for Thursday,April 17. Free rides on Coaster(that's right,FREE!)begin at 6:00AM. At 10:00 AM,a ceremony dedicating Coaster as a Vancouver BC landmark will begin with a plaque recognizing Coaster as such. Plaques will also be given out to members of Carl Phares' family members in attendance recognizing the contribution that Carl Phare has given to the PNE Playland and the city of Vancouver with the Coaster. Come join Nasai and I at the PNE Coasters' 45th Birthday! All coaster enthusiasts are invited to attend. The Coaster will continue to operate after the ceremony until 12:00 noon.

That sounds cool. Do we need to register for this event or just show up? I might be willing to use a vacation day to head up there for the day.

Aaron

I think we just need to show up.Hopefully the PNE has the coffee pot on for the early hour that this starts.

I am really suprised by the lack of interest in this event. I know that it starts a little early in the day but you may get to meet members of Carl Phares' family and FREE ERT ON A GREAT COASTER! I am driving 300 miles from Portland,Oregon to Vancouver BC just for this event. C'mon, what the matter with you guys?!

Because no coaster enthusiasts live up here in the barren Northwest! ;) Well.... there are a few. Still, I can't see myself rising at 3AM for a ride on a coaster that I get to hit later in the day any other time. I just hope Nina comes in the summer!!! ;)

Don't you want some ERT? - I do, but not at 6AM

RSA - as go[o]d as Vancouver's Coaster is I doubt many people can justify the expense to fly there in April when in August they can hit an event at Silverwood, a possible event at Enchanted Village, *and* Coaster. Its a shame an event couldn't have been organized around the same time as CAC.

What Moosh said. I'd like to go to this event, but that's quite a hike for me. If the other parks were open at that time I'd consider it, but I'm just going to wait until August.

I'm going to try to get up there. You can't beat free rides on a top 10 coaster (not in my opinion, but a lot of people think so). It might just end up being you and I, Ron.

Aaron

I guess I am going through (PNE)coaster withdrawals. I has been awhile since I have ridden anything.

The plus side of possible low attendance of this event. The PNE Coaster will be a walk on. Still, one has to wonder why they chose to start this at 6:00 AM. Nonetheless,I will still make an effort to attend.

Tempted, so ever tempted.....

But as some others have said, just not quite enough time to plan a trip and such. But Vancouver is on the list for August. This is going to be the trip of the year! :)

So we are gonna see you up here in August, Dweaver? Great! I was hoping to meet you last summer at SFMM, but couldn't quite connect with you. Looking forward to the madness as well...;)

Would you just LOOK at what you've done to CoasterBuzz - you're going to have to clean it up ;)
Oh yes, wouldn't miss this one for anything. I haven't been this excited about a trip since SRM two years ago. It will be great *finally* meeting you guys. I'm really quite easy going, and not nearly as bossy as I come off sometimes on Cbuzz. ;)

You? Bossy? Since when? I guess when Kraxleridah is involved, but sheesh.... who wouldn't be? ;) Still, looking forward to the new friendships. Guess I better buy that house soon, so I can have you all over for soba. :):):)

From the feedback I am getting on this ,I think you're going to be right about this,Aaron.

I did e-mail Laura @ the PNE about some of reasons that some of you may not be in attendance. I suggested the following to her.

1. Lots of hot coffee if they still decide to start at 6:00 AM.

2. Starting the ERT after the dedication ceremony at 10:00 AM instead of 6:00 AM and going until 4-5:00 PM.

3.Having the Hellevator, the S&S Space Shot ride in operation so we can get a good view of Coasters' layout and have something else to ride.(and convince more of you to attend)

Hey,its' not every day you get to ride a great classic coaster for free! If anyone is interested in carpooling with me,let me know. I will be traveling on the I-5 freeway from Portland to Bellingham,State Rte.539/Meridian Parkway via Lynden to Canada Hwy #1,Hwy.#1 to the PNE in Vancouver. If you live near this route and you want to go,contact me.

You see? Now, if they had Ron's schedule, I would be sooooooooo in! Having the park run the ERT after the ceremony, and include the Hellevator, and the mouse? Oh yeah! Robbie likes a lot...;)

Don't you want some ERT? - apparently Ron does!

Perhaps you could get a rough head count and see if you could offer them sone *enticement* to change the schedule...;) It's not like there aren't enough of the seriously coaster deprived up in the PNW...small surprise that Ron wants ERT...and some Ethyl...:)
