Does CCI know how to make a bad coaster?
Well in a way it is both. A couple coasters * cough King Cobra cough* are out dated and basically a pain but I think they have a great selection of coasters and some of the best woodies in the world. I mean you don't get much better than Son of Beast , Beast, or the racers. They do have some great steel coasters to. Since the removall of otsr's Flight of fear is an awesome ride, vortex, the list just goes on and on. I am waiting for an air time steel coaster, they have plenty of wood. I don't think we will see anything from them next year due to TR TR being such a big investment. It is a great park though and it is not fair to say they have coasters by quanity instead of quality.

Although I have never personally been to this park, their coaster selection seems to be the "quantity over quality" approach. Tell me what you think.
Thats kind of the same way I feel about Cedar Point. I've never been there cause they really dont have anything that interests me in the slightest. But I make several solo trips to Kings Island during the season and can spend an entire day riding nothing but coasters and have an absolute blast.

What exactly doesn't interest you at Cedar Point? MF, Magnum, Raptor, Mantis? No good?

Well, if you've never been there, it should be pretty hard for you to comment on the quality.
Before last year, I never thought they had a real "gee-whiz" ride, but Beast and Top Gun, combined with the nice rides from Adventure Express and Racer, made it a nice collection. When they retrofitted Flight of Fear, that was the day that PKI moved up a lot higher in my sights. That's the gee-whiz ride they needed. I only wish they could figure out a way to market the ride "featuring new lap bars!"

"What exactly doesn't interest you at Cedar Point?"
Mean Streak, Disaster Transport, Woodstock Express, Corkscrew, Jr. Gemini, Cedar Creek Mine Ride, Iron Dragon, Wild Cat, and Demon Drop.
Anyways, back on topic, I don't think any park aims for quantity over quality. I have heard that Son of Beast sucks, but overall, there collection seems pretty good. However, they are definitely in need of a steel coaster from Intamin or B&M...

Yeah, too much good wood is a real problem for me...I don't think I want to go to PKI again...;). SoB doesn't suck (I love that phrase, damning with faint praise, LOL). Really, PKI went way out on a limb for the most intense woodie on the planet, and I give them alot of credit. SoB still has potential, even if they are having a hard time with that one section...but they haven't given up YET and that shows dedication...I really hope it pays off - and wonder what's going to appear in that first helix, eventually.
As does the lap-bar retro-fit...speaking of which, I can really see PKI spending the money trying to sell THAT to the GP - proof that Jeff has NOT lost his sense of humor...

Florida needs an Intamin and/or CCI soon...Please!

I wasn't really asking you, but thanks for giving your opinion.
Memphomaiac said that absolutly nothing interested him, and I just thought it was kind of weird. Just curious!

Actually, by openly asking that, YOU DID.
And on the PKI topic - Four junior coasters? That is quite a lot...
Four extremely popular junior coasters by the way. The Beastie and Reptar are even fairly enjoyable for adults to ride. I think there's a meaning for them adding that many junior coasters and if they're taking out KC, because it is of lower quality now that its aging. So, obviously they don't want the count for quantity I would think. Of the types of coasters they have: mine train, wooden out-and-back, terrain woodie, mega looping woodie, suspended,... they really are some of the best if not the best. I wouldn't say they even have a "bad" coaster.

*yawn* You haven't been there, so what's the point in all of this? Just a masturbatorial excersise here...
Racer - great wooden out n back. Not quite as good as its little one tracked cousin in Sandusky, but its a classic, and I don't see how anybody could say they don't like Racer. (although i'm sure someone here could prove me wrong. )
Adventure Express - Best mine ride in the world outside of a Disney park.
Top Gun - Best suspended in the world, save for maybe PCW's Vortex, but they're nearly clones.
SOB - its a matter of taste. Personally, i could ride it all day and love every minute of it, but if you don't find it very remarkable, so be it.
Face/Off - great ride. Its kinda been over shadowed as a shuttle by the impulse's and De Ja's as of late, but that doesn't diminish the ride's quality. Its still fun as hell.
KC - its still one of my favorite standups and I'd rather ride this anyday than Chang with its horrible ending and Riddler's which was a bore the whole way through.
The 4 little ones - Beastie is the best "kiddie" type coaster ever built. Anybody that says otherwise is cruisin' for a bruisin'. Reptar is right up there. The other 2 you aren't going to get on as an adult without a kid anyways, so why worry about it?
Pappa Beast - I'll admit, its a mixed bag. Somedays its running slower than others, but you have to take it or leave it. Some of us have a personal attachment to this coaster like its one of the family, and when its running at its best (and it does occasionally) then no coaster in the world can even touch it. I always like to point to the URC day after coastermania in 2000 but it seems like nobody here was there. Its too bad, because i think everybody there would agree with me.
Vortex - 2nd best arrow mega looper in the world, IMO. If you are one of those people that likes to concentrate on this coasters faults more than what it DOES have going for it, be my guest, but i don't know what the point is. There's a lot of love for Vortex on this board and i think its 100% well deserved.
Fof - I rode it once without lapbars and it seemed like I was on a pretty sluggish ride. It was much improved but i still didn't think it was a very good ride. I ride a second time at the end of the season, and i'm blown away. This must be hands down the most intense steel coaster in the world now. I was literally dizzy walking down the exit ramp.
Well, that's all I have to say about PKI. Now, no offense, but if you like coasters at all and you can say nothing at CP interests you in the slightest, then you are either looking for attention, trolling, trying to be controversial, or you might just want to reevalutate your views of CP. :) Hell, not even Blue Streak? Not even the french fries? Not even the lake side atmosphere?

PKI has some excellent coasters, but their four kiddie coaster really add to the count.
Of course, if you HAVE kids, that's exactly what you're looking for. At PKI, I could treat my three year old to four coasters, all but one of which are very good quality for the genre (Ghoster, Reptar, Beastie). Compare that to CP's mere two kiddie coasters, one of which (Jr. Gemini) is less thrilling than your average 50s era junior steelie.
Add to that the lower height requirments for Adventure Express and Racer and it's no wonder PKI outdrew CP last year. It's the obvious choice for families with young kids.

My mind is plenty open, believe me, if you only knew. :)
I'm not knockin CP, I'm sure its a fine park, I guess, hell, what do I know? I've never been there. I still might get up there one of these days, but in the meantime theres far too many other places & parks I havent been to that interest me alot more.
