Jeffery Siebert, a PR rep at Paramount's Kings Island, told PKIGuide.com that the park's stand-up coaster, King Cobra, was being removed to make room for "something new in 2003."
-----------------
I get the feeling there's a conspiracy over at King's Island to remove anything that has "K" or "C" in its initials.

Charlie,
B&M will still design a stand-up for any customer wanting to have one built in their park. It's just a matter of money for the most part. After all, they still offer their ride in their latest brochure.
Moore On,
While TR:TR is located in Rivertown, I don't think the theming looks that out of place, I mean, it has some of the same colors of the area, and is located in the area of the park with the most trees adding to the overal theme.
I am sure most of the guests at the park won't noticed it isn't Rivertown themed.

Personally, I think Rivertown isn't really "Rivertown" anymore. It seems to be transforming into a "Wooded Safari" type theme. I mean, look at The Beast, the train, and now TR:TR - none of them really have a river theme, or involve water all that much......well, except that Tomb Raider is supposed to incorporate water in the ride. But it isn't really a water themed ride, per se.
As for KC being replaced, I can only say that I hope PKI has the good sense to replace it with another coaster that will be at least as exciting, if not more thrilling, than it's predecessor, whether it's in the same footprint or not. Put an upcharge ride there for all I care - but at least give us another steel coaster in it's place.
Second Son,
If PKI decided to put a non-coaster ride in the location of the site where KC once stood, I think that would be just as good. If PKI has taught us anything, it's that you don't always need a coaster year after year to be sucessfull. I would love to see a new coaster at the park as much as you, but I won't be disapointed if the park doesn't install one.

Sept. 11th 2001, Slayer released God Hates Us All. The song "Disciple" uncannily describes the events of that day, as well as the anthrax letters that followed.
--Slayer: Thrash band, or the next Nostradamus?
Im guessing along the lines of Wild Mouse also. Thats all they have room for.
Sean F., Good point at that,PKI has taught us that. I too would not be dissapointed either.

At least I dont call a vertical loop a "loopdie-loop"!
Hey, there's quite a bit of land once the King Cobra is taken out. They could extend a coaster through Octoberfest over the pond and even over Adventure express. My bet is another indoor ride though. I think TR is an experiment on how people will react to this type of ride. I don't care as long as it's a good ride!
Also, does anyone believe (as I do) that Rivertown has been or is going to be renamed? I bet it's now the Adventure Zone, in keeping with movie themes. I know that at another Paramount park they have a Thrill Zone.
Also, 40 million dollars spent on TR? There has to be some additional theming or rides going up in the area!
Maybe PKI will finally make use of the Rye Airplane Coaster blueprints they bought a few years back. No, I'm not suggesting the Airplane will fit in the Cobra's footprint; just dreaming......

BMCOASTER

:( I for one will miss King Cobra. Last season I finally got the guts to ride it, and I loved it. And it was the first "big park coaster" I got to work (being located on a HB land coaster :), even though adjusting those seats for people was really hard. I wish they would have kept it, and hope they don't plan on removing anything else any time soon (RIP KCKC and Cobra).
