PKI Official: King Cobra being removed

Posted | Contributed by Jacob

Jeffery Siebert, a PR rep at Paramount's Kings Island, told PKIGuide.com that the park's stand-up coaster, King Cobra, was being removed to make room for "something new in 2003."

All I gotta say is IT BETTER BE SOMETHING GOOD!!!!!

RRRRRRRRR LETS GET READY TO RUMOR!

Wow this is okay news I guess. Many new rumors will be pouring in here through the next year. Well what else is new!

-----------------
Cedar Point gets "twisted for 2002"
Great Escape gets "screwed for 2002"

Will another par get the ride? Or will it be scrapped like Windjammer & Drachen Fire

800,000 years in 7 seconds: Time Machine the movie or next S&S creation?

Yeah The rumors will be flying on this one.
PKI is really dumping money into the park. SOB, Reptar, TrTR and next year they are getting some in place of king kobra. I don't think the ride itself will be all that large by the looks of the space the will have to use on it. But you never can tell what a park is doing.

Actually Windjammer has not been scrapped. It is For sale on the Ital International web site, and its going for around $1.2 Million . *** This post was edited by TITAN_FAN_13 on 3/16/2002. ***

Titan Fan 13,

King Cobra is still for sale on that site to. We saw the pictures of it being scrapped. Windjammer is gone. Wasn't the broken up track in the Knott's parking lot evidence enough?

Hopefully another stand-up......maybe B&M?;)
B&M stopped making Standups once the trend died out to the Inverts and now to the Speed, Floorles, and Flying (Hopefully)

Well, hopefully the park will get a B&M (although it could probably not all fit in the area occupied by King Cobra). That would really complement their already excellent collection of coasters.

PKI FaNaTiC:

If a park wants B&M to build them a stand up than B&M will build them a stand up. What do you call GS at SFG?

I would LOVE to see a B&M stand up with a tight layout like GS but I don't think that is what they are planning to build. If they take out DOT as well they will have a little more space to build on.

Well, obviously something "new" is going in. The question is, "new" as in new to PKI, or "new" as in "never-seen-before" at any park? (Like TR:TR is supposed to be a one-of-a-kind ride unlike anything else in the world.)
There is lots of land around KC that hasn't been used to it's fullest potential. (Food court, radio controled cars, climing wall, basketball game) I would be surprised if the KC land was the only area used for whatever the new addition will be.

Look at the area KC is in. My guess is that they would put in ANOTHER upcharge attraction. KC has a pretty small footprint and nothing all that big could go in there, maybe a wild mouse. Paramount seems to be putting a wild mouse in their parks as of late. They could use that space for a station & queue and have the ride go out to the other side of SOB.

-----------------

Just this last season, I REALLY grew to appreciate King Cobra, especially in the back seat: the whiplash first drop, the blackout-inducing loop, the intense helix, the standing airtime over the camelback (almost as powerful as Vortex's first drop in the backseat), the trick track, those lightning-quick bunny hops, and the loudest brakes I've ever heard on a coaster in my life. If not for the restraints from hell, this would have been a much more popular ride, I have a feeling. I will miss you KC!

I too notice that KC takes up a small footprint and doubt they will replace it with a coaster unless it's a Wild Mouse (unless they demolish Adventure Express too and use its land). If the new attraction is an upcharge, I will be mad. Removing a coaster for an upcharge is just plain wrong. We'll see, though. One can always hope PKI will get that inverted it needs so badly one of these days...

I get the feeling there's a conspiracy over at King's Island to remove anything that has "K" or "C" in its initials.

King Cobra sucks
How profound.
anyone want to take bets on a clone of Ricochet?
On which Ricochet? Aren't there two Ricochets with two different layouts... And my bets are low. One of the reasons KC was taken out was because it didn't for the ActionZone theme. And a mouse fits in even less.

Sorry man... that ride is SO melted down. The track was torched, cut, torn and broken in so many ways, it's impossible to rebuild it. The final choice to just bring the ride down in such a fashion was made in early July last year after a few failed attempts to sell the ride.

My personal favorite sight in watching the ride come down was when a large scoop was literally ramming a station footer to tear it out. It was almost funny.
