PKI food at BeastBuzz'03: what do you think?

Jeff's avatar
If you happened to have attended CoasterBuzzCon last year at PKI, what did you think of the food?

There are some alternatives to the all you can eat burgers/dogs/fried chicken, but the alternatives (like chicken breasts) are not all you can eat. Should we again go with the all you can eat?

Also, I should mention now since I didn't realize it last year, that they desserts were not paid for by us... I think the PR folks picked up the tab for that (ditto for the covered tables and Eiffel Towers). They really hooked us up!

Jeff, unless it is new this year, all menu items were all you can eat unless deemed necessary by the picnic grove staff and agreed upon prior to the picnic booking. (Let me tell you, you don't want to be the one constantly cooking hundreds of pans of baked beans (35-40mins in the oven) for 20,000 people. Its a real pain in my butt)

Having eaten all the other menu items all summer long, I can give some suggestions but price is always the factor I know.

The covered tables and eiffel towers aren't an option for any other group that comes into the picnic grove. All the tables will be cleaned and santized for them but if the groups want decorations they have to provide them, which I'm sure Jeff Siebert arranged that one himself as a treat to you guys.

I thought the arrangement was great last year Jeff. It was typical picnic fair and the generous portions made it all worthwhile. The variety gave something even for the picky among us. PKI treated us just awesome.

But for desert this year, how about some Huckleberry Hound Blue Ice Cream ;)

-Brent who knows desert is not included but is addicted to that damn ice cream

I am indifferent about the food that will be provided. I was at CBCon last year and will be at both events this year. I was happy that there was food provided for CBCon.

I am not picky as to what the food may be for these upcoming events.

The food was decent, and I think that the all you can eat was a good thing for those who were really hungry. PR did an amazing job and Jeff Siebert really did it up good for us. (Sorry for the misused english but I just came back from shooting a rap video.)

I asked my husband, and he said "I always go for quantity! Besides, the food last year was great".

Although I tend not to eat as much, I enjoyed the "picnic" aspect of the food. I'd say go with what you know works.

You can never go wrong with all you can eat- not to mention I thought the food tasted great too. I couldn't even bring myself to eat a dinner I had so much for lunch :)

Well I didn't go last year, in fact i'm not even in the club (want to join though) so my advice probably isn't as hihgly taken as others. I would say though that if what you did last year really worked out well then try to go with it again. Reading the posts it sounds as if people enjoyed the food (kind of difficult to go wrong with picnic food) so I'd say go with what works. Also if anyone cares as to why i'm not in the club yet, I don't live close enough to the events and I don't have my license yet so as of now there isn't any incentive for me to join other than to offer support for the site, which don't get me wrong I wouldn't mind doing.

Not everything on the menu is all you can eat, and it's certainly not cheap to feed people with all of the chicken breats they can eat! Sounds like we'll go with what we had last year then.

Don't worry, your ice cream will be safe this time....

I liked the all-you-can-eat food option. It was filling and very delicious (and it didn't come back to haunt me after a few rides). I hope that the plan is the same this year.

I second Brent on the Smurfberry ice cream LOL. Last year's picnic was (Mr. Burns voice) excellent! Thanks again to the park for a great day.

Are we allowed to bring our own ammunition for the Scooby ride? :) Now where did I put that nerf crossbow?

Steph and I were just talking about that today. I thought lanyards would be cool and all backstage pass looking, but they would likely blow around quite a bit!

Lanyards would work great. If they start blowing around, you just tuck them in your shirt. The key is that they would make it through the day and they also would be a neat souvenir from the event.

Yeah I say keep it the same as last year! The all you can eat was cool (even though I was sick from the heat and didnt eat much). You really can't go wrong with picnic foods like the others have said.

Jeff, lanyards would be neat to have because like lumpy said a great souvenir!
