PKI changes locomotive names as tribute

WOW this is turning into a railroad thread, but hey, it DID start from park attractions.....

MagnumForce: One of the railroads I worked with is located south of Elkhart, but the owner passed away last year and I believe the equipment was auctioned off. You can still see the track and buildings. Pics are here (go to live steam). The park sounds cool! Let me know if you need some rides! ;) I too am in love with the Wabash E-8....its my fav. railroad, and those Proto 2000's are absolutely magnificent.

And no, I don't know that many Flyers ops! LMAO.....Lumpy, its good to see a Chessie guy on here! I sure miss those colorful engines.

Model coasters and rides

Yes it did start with a park train/rollercoaster page thread.

I used to run my 1955 A.F S.F passenger set till the dogs started chasing it, then once they caught it, floor running stopped.

I wish Magic Springs would get a real park train, and sell the rusting Zamperla Rio Grande to me to use in my backyard. Every park needs a real train, and not a kiddie train.

The youth of today doesn't know what they are missing by not riding the rails. Trains, and Coasters.

mmmmm. its so moist

Wabash and Conrail are my favorite roads. I have railfanned the old Water Level Route in northwest Ohio and Northeast Indiana for years and years. Love those blue engines. My favorites being the 80 MAC's.

I live about 5 miles from the old Wabash right where it goes from Ohio to Michigan. Kneemeister's and My dad grew up right between the Ann Arbor and Wabash in Milan, MI.

Have you made any N scale roller coasters? I would be very interested in seeing them and maybe learning how to make some myself if ya have. A little wooden out and back like Screechin Eagle would be so cool to have. Would not need to be operating of course. I have thought about getting some scale lumber and doing it but I really don't know where to start. Being sick these past months has really made me think entirely too much about stuff I could do.

Magnumforce, you need to get down to Fostoria for some Railfanning, Word has it that the town is considering building a railfan park at the junction of the B&O, C&O and Nickle Plates triple diamonds.

As for combining rail trips and coaster trips, here are some of mine.

2002, MIA, SFGAm, Adventurland, Trip up to Marshalltown IA to see UP's Challenger locomotive arrive, WOF, SFSTL and IB.

2001, Lakemont, Delgrossos, Knoebels, Steamtown, LC, SFNE, SFGAD, Dorney

2000, Cass WV with father for a week trip, Included Rafting the New River :)

1997, Cass WV shay trip to whittaker station, BGW, PKD, Steamtown, Dorney.

I go railfanning in Fostoria a lot along with the bridge over the yard in Bellvue. Deshler more often though. My girlfreind only lives 20 miles from Deshler.

Brent, What is your ID on Trainorders.com I will give you three guesses on what mine is, and the first two don't count.

All this talk about Fostoria and Deshler, it makes me want to run a train north again.

LOL Ya know I have probably waved to you as you went by before William seriously.

I don't post at trainorders anymore while at college the network was such that I couldn't get on trainorders and I wasn't able to read or post on it for 3 years. Anyway now that I can get back on I read it but I am so far out of the "posse" anymore that I don't post. My nick was ZePhyR. I think it was 20-710G3B for a while too.

I have no idea what your nick is on there. Maybe Lumpy72?

Well like I said in the other railroad thread here, I wan an engineer at SFOG last season. Definitely the hardest ride in the park to operated. ;) It was fun, but now I'm running the "other trains," aka coasters.
Scobydoobedo??

Whats life if you never get to the Po!nt?

Sounds like I may have waved at a few of you over the last few years. :)

Of couse Brent, Lumpy72 all the way. So easy to remember (for me at least) and it is a little unique. Mainly it has nothing to do with railroads or coasters. ;)

If your ever get on the line to Indy, wave just west of the wooden overpass aprox MP 109.5 in New Palestine. I can watch from my kitchen window!

The farthest west on the Indy Line I have been was just west of Morristown. But if I ever get out that way I will wave.

Anyway our trip to Big Chief's last year was a coaster riding train chasing pursuit.

Hey Magnumforce, did ya miss the Riverside and Great Northen Railroad in WI Dells? And the Mid Continent RR Musueum just a few miles away? R&GN has 15" steam trains (park trains) and the MCRWY has BIG steamers (down for FRA updates at the moment) Check out the R&GN at www.randgn.com or Mid Contintent at www.mcrwy.com.
heck you were only one town away!

I don't get into Live Steam much at all so the 15" stuff doesn't interest me. I do know about the Soo Line engines at Mid Continent and I realized it was pretty close to the Dells. But we were pretty tight on time. We are more into modern railroading then tourist lines or museums anyway.

I did try making a N scale coaster, but my problem was that I needed flextrak, and I had no funds to get it. Another thing I was looking at was to somehow take off the ties and make a "slot" for the wheels, meaning you would have the running rail underneath, and then an extra rail up top so it didnt go flying off the track. I might pick that up again.

Me and my dad have been into trains for awhile. We dont go out and watch them, we dont have time. But we were in a N scale modeling club (Tri State NTrak) and would just sit in our basement tinkering with the trains until about midnight every night. We had to give it up when we had to sell the pooltable our main layout was sitting on due to room and had nowhere else to go with it. Sad day when I saw it go. Hopefully we get into it again soon.

Holy cow!! I can't believe I've missed out on all this! I love trains too! The first train I ever rode was KI's Simon Kenton, I have a pic of me at age 3 in the cab. Maybe we should start a coaster and train group... railriders or something. ERT on KIMVRR would be cool!

Tyler

Mid Continent has one Soo Line locomotive, #2645 a 4-6-0 and it's in rough shape. They were trying to do a cosmetic restoration on her but with the boiler repairs on the other locomotives being a priority, it's not gonna happen anytime soon.

Sorry Dave, but I was on the Connersville Local and we didn't have any reason to go to New Palistine on that day. Maybe another day I will get through there. If you ever plan on visiting the Whitewater let me know.
