PKI Announcement not far off

Posted | Contributed by Jacob

With Paramount's Kings Island's announcement about a month away, The Cincinnati Enquirer is speculating on some of the possibilities for PKI's next ride. The article even mentions a "Giga-Twister" rumor with a 10,000 ft. long track.

Read more on The Enquirer's site.

[Ed. note: CoasterBuzz has it on good authority that Setpoint's Swing Thing (Super Saturator at Carowinds) is the most likely bet for the new ride. We've also learned that the likelyhood of an exclusivity agreement concerning Vekoma's "flying" coaster (like Stealth at Paramount's Great America) with Paramount is for real, as Paramount allegedly floated much of the research and development costs associated with developing the new ride. The pecking order seems to put PKI in line for the ride in 2002 or 2003.]

I think it(FSS)would be great.
As far as the 300+ft hyper twister goes this was rumored about the same time SOB rumors came out.If there ever was a park with room for a giant hyper PKI would be it,but 2001 I really doubt it.
10,000 ft... Bwahahaha!

CoasterKIDDIE - PKI has plenty of room to expand.
I would like to point out that this article was merely repeating the silly rumors that are circulating about the new attraction. I don't put much stock in it right now. I doubt that they will build anything that big next year. It will probably be something a little smaller and easier on their wallet. Maybe in another year or two.
Have any of have you noticed that Paramount Parks have not added many rides named after any of their movies. Ex. Son of Beast, Project Stealth, Volcano, Super Saturator, HyperSonic XLC, etc.? *** This post was edited by Sinker515 on 8/19/2000. ***
apparently in all their SOB obsessing, nobody noticed, but when last I visited PKI, one of their log flumes (the old one, I think) was fenced off w/ tall wooden fences that had the words, "closed for renovation. look for something new in 2001!" on them. this was in late july, I'm surprised nobody else has said anything...

WE'RE ALL GONNA DDDDDIIIIEEEE!!
Actually, lots of pople have noticed that, and thta have been lots of rumors about what they are putting in it's place. Luckily, the log flume isn't going anywhere, they're just adding a ride right near it.

I have a funny feeling that PKI may be up for sale, or Paramount/Viacom want out.

You all know that James Bond is out next year right?
So ride it while you have the chance!
"The 7th Portal" is its replacement. (Got that info from a confirmed Screamscape.com post )

I don't think SS is a coaster, but I have seen pics of the one in Carowinds and it looks fun,and you can shoot other guests with water!

Why is everyone loughing at the prospect of a 10,ooo ft long steel coaster? It is possible, as long as PKI's budget can handle it. It won't be in 2001, you can be sure of that.

Gotta ride 'em all!
It seems quite clear that Paramount has been sapping the appeal of these parks ever since they took over and started slapping their name on everything. I was actually surprised to see such a large coaster being built at this stage of the game (SoB at PKI). I know that I will probably not be going to my "home park" PKD anytime soon. The park is so congested and has lost a lot of the rides and attractions that I used to love back in 1980's. Still waiting for their first steel coaster to hit 200 feet and over 3000 feet in length.
whatever it is.....it had BETTER BE ARROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got an e-mail from a fellow coaster enthusist(sp?), and he said that he was at PKI today and they began tearing down the KMLF. So something is being replaced there. I guess we'll have to wait for the announcement.

O. PKI needs a STEEL COASTER> I sick and tired of hearing about wood coasters there. They need a up to date steel coaster for crying outloud!

Go full force, Millennium Force!

Favorite Steel: Millennium Force, Medusa (SFMW), Mantis, Stealth
Who do we have to kill to get a B.& M. coaster ???

Stealthmf5: SOB was the first wood ride built at pki since 1979. every other coaster, steel, I might add, is or was a first or second of their kind modern ride

beastmaster: Sorry, the KMLF is gated off, but there is no sign of dismantlement. I was there too today..dang crowded for a monday.

Skip: I too would love a new Bacon & Morgan coaster.

Its time for a new dark ride.
I've posted about this before, but a friend of mine works at PKI, and according to hime, KMLF will be dismantled and a new "kiddie" water ride will go in there that goes with the Nikelodeon Splat City theme. All of this points to the Super Saturator, since it is a water coaster, and I believe it's part of Carowind's Nikelodeon area.

Rides to the top of the World: 8
This is a bit off the subject but.. i'm a big pki fan ever since the 80's and have heard mutliple horror stories of some rides.. although the only real two fatalities i've found have envolved the tower and flight command.. I heard once that the bat killed a few people and was torn down, records say only technical problems, and the king cobra i've heard the same.. obviously the king cobra is still alive and well but does anyone know of any good dirt on pki?
