PKI announcement coming soon

Jeff, I'm going to PKI that day with my youth group! Could you wear your Coasterbuzz Tee-shirt, so I could try to find you later in the day? Just wondering.

You can't run and you can't hide...The Beast at PKI
its PKI's 30th anniversary thats a special event if they spend it on a Inferno type ride then thats not celebrating it in a great wonderful kind of way. a coaster definitely would be better. i would particularly like a steel coaster where KCKC stood but a water coaster would fit well with theme and be real fun but a big building or a couple flat rides in that space would ruin th effect of the surrounding area. good luck at announcement for anyone who is going and bring back good thrilling news.
Yeah, we're all dying for next years info. It's gotten so bad that a dude is posting fake press releases on another board, but it's funny.

Yeah, let them know we want tall, full length coasters. No simulators, no prototype versions, no clones.

I can't speak for everyone here, but, I really don't care what PKI gets next year as long as it's something that enhances the park. IMO, Sonny was not an 'enhancement' as much as it was a move of bragging rights. Everything about the ride screamed prototype, something Paramount seems overly gung-ho to incorporate into its parks. That, in itself, is a bad trend.

If this ride is indeed a 'Top Spin In A Box', I'd still be happy (disappointed, yes, but still happy). It's a new ride, coaster or not, and in that area I agree with you. But sometimes, I have to wonder where Paramount's collective head is, as in the case of SOB. With a decent assortment of woodies already to their credit, they went the 'more is good, bigger is better' route and decided to go prototype again. I can see why they do this, but for once I'd like to see some forethought on their part, and focus what they need versus the 'gee whiz' factor.

If it really is a coaster that's coming, then great. More power to them, and us. But I really hope that they are using their heads this time to produce something truly exciting that I'll want to reride over and over, not something I'll tire of in a spin or two. I hope they're making a decision with their heads clear and open, and not stuck up their collective posterior. I hope that they took a good, long look at what they've got (lots of woodies, steel loopers, great kids/family area, decent, albiet overcrowded, action area, etc.) and look at what they don't have (non looping hyper steel or watercoaster, decent traffic flow, wisely used Rivertown, flat rides) and try to work at becoming a well rounded park. They are oh-so-close, but yet so far.

But then again, it's the dreaded speculation game until the 2nd......and maybe then, just maybe, things will change for the better. My fingers are crossed and my head hurts, like I just had a brain freeze, with antici----------pation (for all you Rocky Horror people).

(and once again, I somewhat agree with raven....who woulda thunk it?)
I agree. Paramount has made some really stupid decisions, not just at PKI, but at other parks. The only non gimmick coaster made recently in the entire chain was Top Gun at Carowinds. Never ridden it, but it looks impressive. Paramount needs more rides like this in all of their parks. As far as next year goes, I don't want a dark ride or a flat ride, although I'm willing to admit that they would be good park additions for people not like me. Dark rides just can't compare to a coaster, and flat rides give me motion sickness. Paramount just needs to make a well thought out ride, which will hopefully be a great new coaster.
While I cant say that I have been all together happy with *all* of the recent Paramount installations, I respect the company because they have BALLS! They are willing to take risks and move the coaster industry to a higher level. And say what you will about your own *personal* tastes, but each of their last 'gimmick' coasters (Stealth, Nick FSS, Sonny, Hypersonic) have all been *EXTREMELY* popular with the masses. And there is *not one* of you here that has ridden the new FoFs and not been throughly impressed. If just for that reason alone PKI fans shouldnt be mad if they dont get a new coaster. The change from Oucher Limits: Flight of Pain was like a new coaster in and of itself.

Anyway, I would like to see an industry resurgance of dark attractions. Yes, I am a coaster lover first and foremost, but even *I* like a little variety in rides. PKI doesnt *need* a steel-hyper (though one would be nice). All they *need* is actually more flat rides. Beast, Sonny, FOF and Vortex are more than enough to keep thrillseekers thrilled. If PKI adds more flat rides, then they will truely be the most well rounded park in the land.

They already got a new coaster this year (Flight of Fear) that I haven't had enough of. I sure hope I can satisfy my craving of that ride on Monday.

I will be glued to the BUZZ on Monday to find out what the park will be adding. Sure I hope it's a coaster, I probably won't make the trip out to the park unless it is a coaster. The park truly lacks flat rides. They have more simulators then you can shake a stick at. You have to wonder sometimes about why parks add what they do. In the long run, I feel overly themed rides tend to lose there punch if they aren't kept clean and up to par. I am not saying I don't like themeing, I love it, it's just that if it's not kept up it can really make the ride corny.

Whatever they decide to add I hope it's a success.

Anyone thinking of something like Rhino Rally without the animals themed to Tomb Raider? Land Rover has a major ad campaign using scenes from Tomb Raider, since the vehicle Angelina uses is a Land Rover. Just a thought... Personally I would prefer a coaster over anything else, but a new innovative ride like Indiana Jones or even a bigger, better version of Rhino Rally would fit in with the movie nicely. I can imagine a race through a temple and around jungles and the artic with an animatronic Lara Croft, complete with her trademark giant...er, guns, yeah that's it. ;)

will the announcement be on a webcast? will it be recorded? will there be any way that we can see it?

Sit up right, hold on tight!
A 280 foot hyper giga coaster, Kings Island realy should add a hyper.
Whatever they get, it will be good. Coaster, flat ride, whatever happens, PKI is a world class park with world class rides, it will be good in one way or another. Let's sit back and see.

From reading the post describing the invitation to the announcement, all I have to say is, sounds like Indiana Jones. Right after i read the description I remembered from the first Indiana Jones movie (Raiders of the Lost Ark) that he was flying in a mountanous area and but it didnt say where. Then I also remembered about the dotted line one the map in the movie leading to his destianations. It is indeed going to be Indiana Jones. I even looked on the movie box and it has paramount on it. I am 80% sure that it is going to be an Indiana Jones attraction. The only reason that I am 20% unsure about it, is because in the Tomb Raider movie they shot it in Cambodia and Iceland. Well, ive narrowed it down, all we have to do, is wait.

CP in 2002, get to the point
well omG! that passport invitation is hinting tomb raider!!

because if you have played the games TOMB RAIDER on Playstation the menu and beginning of the game starts in a passport you flip the passport as the menu part of the game..
Indiana Jones IS a Paramount movie. Hmmm... This definitely makes it more interesting.
