PKI & PGA '06- Zamperla Disk-O Coaster?

Guess I was the only one who didn't care for the restraints. I'm 6'2", so maybe the top portion was resting too low on me to be comfortable. Any tall guys like the restraints? My wife also didn't like the restraints because they pushed hard against the chest area.

To each his own I suppose. :)

Big Jim, PGA does not have Italian Job. If they did, I would probably re-visit.
While this looks cool, I don't know if it's enough to get me back to the park.

They Live. We Sleep.

I love the Disk-o. But I prefer to ride the one on the Steel Pier at Atlantic City over the one at Dollywood. AC don't have the ride op yelling to keep feet on the floor and your hands on the bars. The PKI version looks even more fun.

I have a friend who is 6'4", 250+ lbs and likes it too he never said anything about the restraints. *** Edited 11/1/2005 6:46:55 PM UTC by dragonoffrost***

Watch the tram car please....
I heard PGA was set to get a Spongebob Dark ride this year as well since they are the only Paramount Park without a Scooby Doo Dark ride I also heard that PKI was set to get the spongebob dark ride as part of the new Nick Universe I know dunno about Avatar being a Disk-O.

When at Kings Island Ride The Beast.

Why is it that PKI and PGA get these cool rides *before* PKD does? I've noticed this...they first get the Italian Job rides, and now PKD does...now they get this Disk-O and PKD doesn't...what gives?

You should be glad you didn't get Italian Job first. It's horribly unreliable, it's been taking forever to get running lately and goes down mechanical a LOT anymore. Plus, all the special effects that have never worked as they should, now no longer work at all.

The only thing that works properly is the coaster itself and the helicopter stunt show!

Oh yes... new ride concepts are SUCH a good thing to have,,,

I'm 6'3" and I found the Disk-O restraints to be close to perfect.

Question: This isn't an actual "coaster", is it? More of a powered ride with coaster-like elements, right?

What the heck, I'll quote myself...LOL!

"It's not a coaster, it's powered throughout the course... ;~P"

Well, at least that's how it LOOKS...just like Disk'O. The Intamin halfpipe, THAT coasts...of course, I've gotten a few Disk'Os, but yet to get a halfpipe...(Denver '06?)

Great restraints on the Disk-O IMHO. As for it being a coaster, I think it's a real stretch. I personally wouldnt count it, but track records are a subjective and personal thing.

Looks like a lot of fun though. Wonder if you get any airtime over that bunny hill? ;)

Certain victory.

Either way, it looks like it could be a lot of fun!

And that's a suprise. Paramount Parks are excellent at neglecting ride theming after the initial season. With this ride, it didn't even take that long.

or never getting them all working to begin with.
Seems that Paramount parks are still trying to be something they're not. They want to be Disney but they end up being a glorified Six Flags. I think part of the problem is that Paramount themes attractions after properites that lose relevence after a few seasons. Jaws, Batman, Indiana Jones and Terminator are timeless- all of those movies have maintained their popularity through the years. Tomb Raider, Wayne's World and Italian Job are movies that people forget about in a few years- if it takes that long! I can see it hard for a park to maintain theming that is outdated.
I have to concede I'm surprised by how many find the Disk-O restraints comfortable. I'm glad to hear it, though, simply b/c I'd rather people enjoy a ride than not. I'll just stick w/ Thunderhead when I'm at Dollywood. ;)

Besides, Avatar won't be a standard Disk-O, so we'll have to see what the new restraints will be like. :)

Rob, I agree completely. Unfortunately, I think that stems from the fact that the Paramount parks started life as theme parks, and are now half theme park / half studio park. I don't think the mesh works well.

I honestly feel Delirium was one of the best ride choices PKI has made in a long time, and it has ZERO movie theme to it.

Too bad it cost us King Kobra, RIP.

But if Paramount wants to be a "studio park", aren't there other movie properties they could use? Why do they always seem to pick these bottom-of-the-barrel properties? I mean, Wayne's World was a good movie, but did they honestly think people would love a Wayne's World-themed area a few years after the movie was forgotten?
Paramount hasn't had a huge hit in years besides Titanic and War of the Worlds that you could theme as an action/adventure type ride. Titanic just wouldn't be a classy ride choice and it may not be easy to get attraction rights for War of the Worlds as I believe more than just Paramount dealt with the film.

But Paramount only has one Star Trek themed attraction in the Theme Parks. Star Trek, while in a bit of a rut right now, is still fairly huge. BORG was a hit for PCar, regardless of what Enthusiasts think of it.

The problem I had with Borg? No station themeing.

Paramount has the properties. But, unlike Universal, and to some extent, Six Flags with their DC licensing, Paramount promotes the wrong movies to rides. I think their Nick stuff is spot on for the kids. I'd get rid of the old HB stuff and just put in NickToons as well.

But for the adult stuff, there are plenty of Timeless Paramount Properties other than Star Trek they could dig up. One thing I've never understood is this: why can Universal Studios, which are actual studios, have a theme park experience (with very few coasters in the Studio Parks), and still be as good and popular as they are, and no other Studios want to do that? Paramount Studios would be ripe for something like that, they already have a 2 hour 'Studio Tour', which I wish I would have done whilst out there. Could you imagine mixing that in with some ride elements like USH?

With titles such as-
The Ten Commandments
Braveheart
Grease
Days of Thunder (c'mon, they could do something better with it than what they did)
Titanic
Shogun
El Dorado (for the western fans)

And plenty of Television and childrens properties, they really could have some Timeless attractions based on Timeless movies.

Put a Volare in PKI and theme it Airplane!: The Ride

Man... I'm so jealous...

PKI & PGA get these wild flats, and here PCW gets the shaft! All they get is a lousy ampitheater... I'd much rather actively ride a ride than passively sit & watch a stunt show.

But alas, it's somewhat of a sarcastic statement because PCW usually gets the great flat rides & here looks like a really fun ride that'd fit right up Canada's Wonderland's collection of flats (yes, I consider it a flat vs. the Halfpipe coaster of similar style).

I'm honestly kind of jealous of the Mission: Impossible Stunt Show, but Nick Universe will be really cool for PKI. I don't believe there has ever been a stunt show at a Paramount Park and if it's anywhere near Indiana Jones quality at Disney, I'd love to have it here.
