Mostly because at this point I have no way of remembering what order I rode everything in, I'll just first mention a couple interesting non-coaster things, and then into the coaster evaluation. first, since I was there with my brother and his girlfriend, (his girlfriend being unable to work up the nerve to ride much of anything.) I actually ended up riding the beastie, and adventure express twice. I got a SOB sports Quart, and that thing is just sick.. not only it is strangely penis-shaped, but it has a hand grasping around it's base, and a sign on it that says, "wood rules." *shudders*
on a final non-coaster note, for my last ride of the day, I hopped in line for Viking Fury. they anounced the ride was closing, with me the only one in line. however, the ride crew were kind enough to give me a ride with the entire boat to myself, and they even offered insight as to the best place to sit. It gave me that warm, special feeling. on to the coasters..
Face/Off - 2 laps. first on the very back/front in broad daylight, (very cool because during the inversions you could often see nothing but the sky.) and again at night facing 2 strangers. not the crap everyone says it is.
King Kobra - 2 laps. once day, once night. I'd have to rate the night ride better. I love this ride! the bunny hops rule, I got to see a really annoying teenager get smacked by weeds.
Vortex - 3 laps. Gawd, I LOVE this ride!! the drop is cool, the corkscrews are amazing because of the brakes just before them, and you can do a pretty cool trick on the vertical loops involving dropping a penny at the top and catching it below.
Beast - 1 lap. lines strangely long. but it's a helluva ride.
SOB - 1 lap. the restraints just plain suck. painful on the legs. you went the day after i went.....and had basically the same opinions except i hated the sob much more...that ride is so stupid it isnt even funny. i cant really explain it...... lame or shame? maybe both. sob is TERRIBLE! when i got off SOB, that is just what i did, sob with pure amazement on how something could be so overhyped and just lack everything and be so boring.

RaptorMonkey, you were there the same day my son and I were.
PKI was the last park in our 8 day 5 park coaster excursion. We kind of went in an opposite circle from you.
We started at Beast, after a trip up the Eiffle Tower. Had two walk on rides on this critter, one front row, one back row. Quite different experiences. The front row was not to bad as far as roughness and there is that one banked curve where the banking starts out 3/4's of the way up the straight drop into the curved tunnel! Awesome! The back row was just too rough. My son was not enjoying it at all. First picture had my arms in front of my son's face. The second had a pained expression on his face.
Next we rode Vortex. This was our 5th or 6th Arrow looper of the trip. I really felt that this one was slow. It felt like were hardly had enough speed to roll out of the corkscrews to me. My son didn't share my opinion. I didn't think it was rough, but my son complained of headbanging. I guess since my head sticks well out of the OTSR's and his doesn't he gets more of that.
Then we rode Outer Limits 2 times. PKI could light the steps into the space ship in the queue line a little better. I thought that this was a good ride, but my sone again complained of headbanging. But he wanted to ride it again. We bought the second picture here.
Then it was on to Racer. We went for the backwards ride first. This was a different experience. But the ops were not racing the trains. The one op looked and moved like she was hungover. Between each train, she shuffled back into the booth to sit on the ledge. She was also the last one to clear her side on each of the 4 trains I saw loaded.
We also went to the forward facing side. The coaster was better backwards IMO.
We grabbed some fries and a Drink at the stand opposite the Adventure Express. I agree with the comments about the SOB refillable quart cup. on Vortex, the speed through the corkscrews is deliberate, I think it makes them pretty fun. From your descriptions I gather you're about my size (I'm 5' 9" and 234 lbs. though only 13) as I hardly ever get battered by OTSRs. I find it odd that you didn't feel any pain on SOB, I got the impression a smaller person wouldn't hurt much..

At least we share riding one coaster (Villain), how is the ride on Big Dipper, (it was closed when i was there.
it is the perfect wooden coaster. only 20 feet tall i think, but has roughness in the right spots, awesome turn-and-drops onto hanging pine trees, bench seating with one lapbar that locks in one place, and great views. i think it is the most underrated coaster(comet at HP too) in the U.S.

i think, the last time i have ridden was last year. i swore off that ride. put it this way: you share your seat and "lap" bar with the person next to you. no seat dividers, head rests, or seat belts.

Coasterdad, Your son really doesnt like much. You must live by an AWESOME park.
Well it was our 5th park in the week. So I think by the time we got to PKI we were both a little tired. We drove over 2400 miles, hit 5 parks, and rode about 40 coasters, in 8 days. But as I said we had a good time.
Home park is Valleyfair!, which is certainly not as big, or good a park as either PKI or CP.
CP was my favorite park of the trip, followed by SFGAm and PKI in a tie, SFO at last. KW is really in a class by itself, I don't want to rank it next to last, but it is not the same as PKI or SFGAm. We enjoyed the trip a lot.
I actually enjoyed the trip pretty well. RM, I am 6'0" and about 285, with a long torso. Most of my weight is upper body. My son is 58" inches, which puts his ears right at the same level of most of the OSTR's out there.
My son and I obviously don't always share the same opinion about coasters. Given our different statures, we don't always experience the same ride.
I really didn't have a problem with SOB restraints, but he said that he got the lap bar down one click too far.
