PKI - 4/29/00 (Warning: Rant Ahead)

Associated parks:
None

Wildcat, after looking at the map. We would go left after entering the park, correct? Then, those 3 coasters are in that section of the park, then GB and Looper are in the back. How's the mine ride coaster in the back, any good? Thanks for the tip, we can't wait for July. Hershey & K-Wood in one weekend, we're pumped!!

Jill, thanks for the info, my boycott of PKI for the season will stand. I wonder if Sonny will be revived by June. I wouldn't be surprised if they get negative props all year, then. Serves 'em right!!! Promoting, then lying, then underachieving...sounds like the old KI days again!!

Yes you go left straight to th Midway America PLace. The mine ride called trailblazer is short, but has a decent helix. Only ride if there is no line(which is almost all of the time). If you do it right Great Bear will have no line. I got to ride it 12 times! after you do that you can do whatever. they have great wooden coasters!
Have Fun!

A quick SOB report. It is SUPPOSED to be open this weekend. My friend who works at the park was told by his superior it will be open, the rough track has been replaced. Only time will tell, though, if it will be open or not. Unfortunately, I will not be able give a first hand report, I have a very busy weekend. Graduation is coming up, and I still don't have a job. And I thought it would be easy to find a job with a BBA in I.S.
What is I.S.?? Insubordinate Staff?? I'm just kidding sigep, but sorry to say...SOB will NOT be open. Read on general buzz, "SOB update??" Sorry dude!! Can we go back to the improper testing thing again, can we?? Please...please?? OK, I said enough...Thanks PKI for making MF even better than it already is...

I think PKI deserves a lot of credit for what they're doing. They spent a bundle on that coaster and if it doesn't run to their expectations why open it.
Hopefully in the near future they'll learn from this mistake and work with individuals who have the proper back ground in designing the coasters they want. They(PKI) should not be held responsible for a design flaw.
But, why Vern did they open the thing without proper testing? I agree they deserve a little credit for going back and fixing Sonny, but why say: Open April 4/29 without having it perfect?? Why did they have to go back and fix the thing....because they were in a rush to beat MF...BOOM!! BANG!! It blew up in their face. Why is it that the Beast had to be re-welded every Monday to the rock ravine on the helix for 5-6 years?? Poor engineering and again...not properly testing the ride to find wear on the helix. I give PKI an A for effort, but a D for safety and respect to the general public. I just hope, when it does open, that injuries are prevented and the thing is a Gem!! If you remember, the Beast had the same type of problems. Why does KI have these probs??

...because they aren't CP...

And another thing, DV, who manufactured the coaster?...it says PKI amusement on all of the listings that I saw, is that true?? If PKI engineered it, built it and had a 'design flaw' then who else is responsible?...some troll that went in there on April 28th and screwed up (knawed on) the track going up the 2nd hill??

Responsibility and Accountability is what we didn't get from PKI and people continue to make excuses for them.

I love to Boycott...it's one of our amendments, ya know?!?!

All I know is I'm here in Cincy, waiting for these people to pull their heads out of their *****, all the while I can't get to CP until Memorial Day Weekend. I want to ride SOMETHING new. Oh well, guess I'll just have to keep waiting.

"Who built it?" is a good question. I was under the impression that RCCA was doing the project, but now I have seen PKI listed as the builder in a couple of places with no mention of anyone else.
Tim, I thought that, too, but when I checked about 5 other sites, they said PKI amusements. If that is the case, then DirtyVern needs to rethink his "they shouldn't be blamed for the design flaw" comment.

Sigep, I feel ya man. I will not make it to the point for about two weeks, then I will be there on Memorial Day. The best day of the year in my opinion. The last 5 years, it has rained 4 and was just cool enough to keep people away. We rode everything with the wait no longer than 35-40 minutes (Mean Streak & Raptor). Cincy is a GREAT town, too. I love it down there (I have many friends that live there), but get the thing (SOB) straightened out before they lose the reason for the season!!!

Woody, will you be there on the Sunday before Memorial Day, or on Monday? Me and about 15 of my friends will be there Sunday, with myself and another guy there on Saturday as well.

We always go on Monday. Saturday and Sunday are too packed, we tried it before. Monday, people are having picnics and family gatherings. We say screw the family, we're going to the Point. If you go on Monday, let me know. I am hopefully going on the Thursday before Memorial weekend, too. If the weather is right and I feel it...I'll be there.
