PKD, will they take us HIGHER

Everywhere I am hear talk about a giga coaster comming to the US, but the best thing is that PKD is surrounding that rumor, there is talk of PKD being very likely to be getting a giga. THIS IS THE BEST NEWS I HAVE EVERY HEARD I hope its not fake, A giga in VA, its about time. It doesnt seem to me that the the rumor is fake. I mean PKD ahs always introduced new innovations and types of coaster to the East coaster time after time. Volcano, Outer Limits, and hypersonic, why not a giga. I know it wouldnt look right if you picture this ride standing in the park, but still I think it could very well possibly happen.

What do you think?

Only thing that's been going around is that the only Paramount parks that "could" be getting the Intiman giga next year are Carrowinds or Kings Dominion. Nothing has been told about where exactly in the US it is going and even if it's going to a Paramount park.

I never heard of this rumor before, where did you hear about it? I don't think PKD will get a giga, a B&M hyper seems like the logical thing for that park. Second, this wouldn't really be a new innovation, Cedar Point has had a giga for a few years now...

is it said what year?

I said its to the east coaster, Ohio isnt east coast.......... or is it?

It was not said where in the country it would be. You've been hanging out at Danimation too long. Someone streched what was said on Roomraider's sight and said it will be a terra coaster on the east coast. Whatever this giga coaster is that may come in 2003, stop worrying about it.

Wow! I think this is a first! Someone on a coaster enthusiast site who tells people not to worry about the possibility of a new giga? Boy, you could knock me over with a feather! ;)

thanks Lallen, I do here what I mean, I live in VA, PKD is close by, and I want to go higher, I hear a rumor, not from Danimation its on Sixflagsnews.com, coasternet. I am very fired up about this. I am just trying to get some opinion so I so I can see if i should get really excited or not take so highly.

Ok, lets do worry about it. How about we start with every park in the country operating or under construction and use the process of elemenation?

This would just turn into one of those world's longest thread where we try to guess where it's going, then try to prove that it's not going to park X. Then" if park Y could get B then why couldn't park X get the giga?" On and on ti will go as a worthless battle until Jeff talk some since into the flamers and closes the topic. So, let's not and say we didn't

Around here you've gotta take most rumors with a grain of salt because 95 percent of the time that's all it is is a rumor, I for one wouldn't mind it if PKD were to get a giga or hyper(maybe that'll scare SFA into doing something) but the big question is where can they put it?

Bottom line is just don't believe everything you read when it comes to rumors,most of the time a rumor is started on one site and soon is spread to most other sites & forums without much if any concrete evidence to support them.

PKD definitely needs a freakin hyper...bad!!! but i will believe it when i hear it come straight from the source. ive always thought a B&M hyper would fit nice back behind Rebel Yell and WaterWorks, and they have excellent capacity. but who knows....only time will tell. with back to back coasters in '01 and '02, and the horrendous amout of repairs for Hypersonic, i doubt we will see any new coasters at PKD anytime soon....

I kinda agree with you vacoasterfreak on where a hyper could be placed at PKD,here's my thought on the best possible layout & location : option #1- PKD could build a hyper/giga by placing the station behind Hurler and have the coaster designed as an out & back going parallel to Rebell yell's right side next to the expanded waterworks section.

Option # 2- they could remove shockwave and build the hyper/giga starting where shockwave's station is and follow an L shaped layout going towards Hurler & turning left in between rebel yell and Anaconda's first drop.

Option #3- they can remove Rebel yell entirely and build a hyper/giga over there though that's not likely to happen.

I see, well I see, I would agree with the locating of the coaster around by the hurler, or even maybe the station close to White water Canyon, just to get some coaster attention up there in that are***

PKD has plenty of land for a hyper/giga without removing anything. They have barely used any of the land from the old Wild Animal Safari and they own the land behind the park. They have no height restrictions or any neighbors to worry about. Would a hyper/giga be great? YES! Will it happen, I will believe it when I see it. I would expect to see a Drop Zone tower before a new coaster. But what do I know I just used to work there.

That's what I'm saying! A drop ride at PKD would be wildly popular. Plus, a good version of such a thing would help a weee little with a couple of long, slow moving coaster lines there;). They get something, it will not be a coaster.

I hate rumors, don't usually pay attention to them. But while I was there last weekend, I was looking at all the land abouts there, & there's room to let your imagination run wild. As a matter of fact, this same area, behind Hurler, Rebel Yell, some the stuff you see in 'Rollercoaster', had me thinking the exact thing, one mean steel coaster would be awesome right there.

hhhmmm with all this rummers flying around about PKD getting a hyper or giga or terra coaster. I could only see them getting a SOB clone. There is a B&M hyper about 45 min away at BGW so if it's a steel hyper i don't see it bing B&M. Hopefully because VA already has a hyper PKD will get a giga or terra

I don't think any park will get a SOB clone. And is there some kind of law stating just because a park 45 minutes away that has a hyper doesn't mean they will get the giga/tera. Thats like saying why should SFWOA get the hyper they want when cedar point has a hyper/launch shuttle invert, the worlds first hyper, and the first giga.
