PKD to get Tomb Raider ride similar to PKI

a friend has received his season pass renewal notice, and it proclaims that Tomb Raider the ride, will be the new product for 2005!

The graphics describe the same type of experience that is offered at PKI

SAM

They'd be better off building a lava pit under a giant Frisbee.

Finally, a mid-atlantic park is getting a Top Spin.

I will be getting my 2005 season pass soon.

Don't really count on getting a "top spin" because, even though that's what the ride is, it's hardly an accurate representation. TR:TR is great fun, but the top spin just provides a means to move you from scene to scene.

It's great fun, but it's hardly programmed to run like a normal top spin.

And then there was one.....

I wonder if PC is actually getting something new. Not a biggie just curious. Heck I would even be happy with general improvements!

...Or could they be saving the best for last! ;) *** Edited 9/10/2004 4:10:38 PM UTC by coasterbruh***

There are no bad coasters, only better coasters!!

It could be a Volare coaster like Canada's Wonderland got this year.

NO ONE needs one of those Rob, not until Zamperla does *something* to fix those God-awful restraints...

I hated them on the *relatively tame* Kite Flyer, I can only imagine how much worse they'd be on a coaster....UGH!

But then again what do *I* know, parks have been buying the Zamp-flyers in their current configuration...they just dont have GMs that RIDE the stupid things, ROFL...;)

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

The Volare was one of the most unpleaent experiences I have ever encountered
I know I'm in the minority here, but I didn't find Superflight at Rye Playland to be all that bad. For me the restraints weren't the problem, it was the banking on the turns that was way too extreme. The tight radii didn't help either. If the ride was redesigned with wider & more natural curves, I think it would be a pretty good coaster. But that's just me... I hate Arrow rides but have marathoned on Vekoma Boomerangs and SLCs before. I guess my steel coaster preferences are a little different that most enthusiasts'!

John- If you want to talk about unpleasant experiences, I'll gladly share my thoughts on X, Morey's RC-48 and SFGADv's GASM!

The one at Rye just killed me. I don't really think the problem is much the restraints for me, its just that everything is taken at break neck speed. If there was a way to take every thing down a notch so all the turns and transitions weren't so nasty, maybe it would be a little bit more rideable.
Volare is my new four letter word...(ya i know there's five LOL)

Even a travelling fair should never get anything like that...for two parks to actually pay money for this ride baffles me and to hear people talking about another park getting it...I am a PCW'er and i will feel great regret if our pain is felt elsewhere.

Um, there is six!!. For all we know PKD's Tomb Raider could be ferris wheel. Paramount makes things interesting by mixing names and rides.

Fate is the path of least resistance.

Well whatever it is it should be good, now that we know the theme of the new ride all that's left is an official announcement.

I think we can rule out a giant frisbee due to that POS that is berserker, but a top spin would do just fine IMO....granted I'd much rather see a new coaster of course.

Looks like I'd certainly be making the annual pilgrimage to PKD next summer, too bad I don't live close enough to warrant buying a season pass.

The "quiet rumor" I started hearing a few weeks ago led me to believe that PKD's new Tomb Raider ride *would* be a Volare (if the rumor eventually became truth), but maybe I was reading into it wrong. While I'm sure the Giant Top Spin would pick up more capacity, I'm hoping the downtime will be minimal if that's what's going in. *No* major park (especially one that cares about its visitors) should ever subject its guests to a Volare and I'm pretty shocked they put one into PCW.

Or like 'tuan mentioned, it might not be either of the above. Show me two major coasters/rides of the same name and exact same design that weren't added in the same year as each other at a Paramount Park (which wouldn't include Hurler and Flight of Fear). I don't think any of the Top Guns, Vortexs, Deliriums, Tomb Raiders, etc. are the same and the Taxi Jams, Ricochets, aren't all the same either now that I think about it.

+Danny, hoping PKD will switch it up and get a high capacity *coaster* following the not-so-great capacity Volcano and Hypersonic

I'm hoping that PKD will get a *GOOD* coaster after Hypersonic! ;)
I'm happy if they do get it, I loved TR:TR, but thats just me(but, then again, I don't like top spins, and that wasn't really like a top spin..).

You do need to remember, Danny, that on that survey, they described a similar exp. to PKI's so it may, but it may not. Heck, Paramount dosen't even give each park the same Drop Zone, so ya never know(but, again, they could just change the scenery...).

I'm sure Carowinds will get something. Heck, 5 new(to them atleast;)) coasters, and a really great dark ride in 6 years, plus atleast 2 re-themed areas, major improvements, and ya wonder if they aren't getting anything this year?

But again, I was right about this coming to PKD(I was just not as vocal about this as I was about that thing going to NJ;)).

What in the hell does an inverting pirate ship have to do with a Giant Frisbee? Those are two completely different rides. PKI has the same ride as Berserker and they have Delerium. I hate to constantly dawg you, but you leave yourself open all the time.

PKI doesn't have an *inverting* pirate ship, but what you said still applies. :)

Myes Clint, I do. I'll be excited *for you* if PKD gets a similar TRTR to ours. I really like that walkthrough special effects show idea from the survey though and I hope one or two of the parks (PC and PGA?) get those.

+Danny

I would like to see one of those walk thru attractions myself. For me, most of the stuff on that survey could go to every paramount park and I'd be happy.

but again, thats just me.

I will, however, be making sure that I still don't like regular top spins next week @ the Pavilion...

^ Hopefully "Snow Day" isn't in that list. Yuck.
