PKD: Hypersonic open, Record-Breaker for 2003!

Just got this from Mark Riddell:

==================================================
IT'S BACK!!!!!!
==================================================
WHHHHOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Wait, what's that sound? Could it be?

Indeed, HyperSonic made a triumphant return to service on Thursday - WELCOME
BACK XLC!!!! We have two trains running. Testing went extremely well, but
took a bit longer than expected. So, if you haven't ridden this monster,
make your plans to get to PKD!!! The only air-launched roller coaster in
North America IS BACK! And thank you for your patience while we made our
modifications. We're certain you'll agree that it was worth the wait.
Attached are some photos of the lucky folks who got the very first return
ride and some shots of the modified trains.

Oh, by the way. Keep an eye on your e-mail for another update later today.
2003 will see ANOTHER record breaker come to Paramount's Kings Dominion and
we're just about ready to unveil it. Hold your breath and don't look down!

"Don't look down"?!?!

Does this mean we can bungee jump off the tower?!?! That would be awesome...LOL

Happy Coastering!

Another record breaker....

Neat-o... I love Drop Zone's! Check out PKD's website. It is now updated on the front page saying Hypersonic is back and it has a video and pics. I like the new trains!

Think it's gonna be like Acraphobia? Could don't look down be a hint pointing in that direction? I agree with it probably being named Drop Zone though

Aughhh look out there are Mice all around

Well nevermind about the PKD Website, it now says It's COOL in Waterworks where it said Hypersonic is back... I wonder if it is the tallest waterslide haha... hold your breath and don't look down? I do hope it is a free-fall though.
Maybe it's like a giant sized acrophobia but the tilt angle probably be more like 20 degrees that would be hot because im going in August but I don't know if it will be built by than.
It is most likely a free fall tower, why the heck would PKD relocate scrambler for a water slide when waterworks is not even remotely close to scrambler's site?
Jay_rider, the announcement is for the 2003 season, so it won't be built till next year. I do find it odd that they are already announcing it. Usually when a park announces something this early it's usually fairly big, such as Cedar Point's Millennium Force announcement and PKI's Son of Beast were all announced about this time in 1999. Hmmm, I wonder...
Someone mentioned in the news article replies about a VERTICAL possibly being put in..would love to finally see the first Oblivion put in the US!!
Actually, the Scrambler is right next to WaterWorks though I'm betting it's an S&S Tower still.

I was thinking the exact same thing Coaster Ken. It seems weird that they would announce it so early for just a freefall ride. Interestingly, earlier in the year, I heard a rumor of something big coming to PKD and the announcement of a record breaker coming adds more to my thinkings. Can anyone say Teracoaster? :).

If it is just a tower..that wouldn't make any sense to why such an early press release...c'mon VERTICAL!!!!!!!!

The thought of a large addition does nto suprise me. I kind of expected it.

Just remember that next years ACE Con is at PKD.

Typically ACE has the inside scoop on parks that are getting large addition projects. It factors into their decision to have the Cons there.

Shaggy

Shaggy, and the fact that they are returning to VA for their 25th anniversary :) Next year will be my first Con, and the new attraction, no matter what it is, should be icing on the cake. So, let the rampant speculation continue for a short while before the announcement is made. *Watches inbox.

Shaggy - you're exactly right regardiong the ACE Con connection. Most ACE events are in conjunction with park that have just opened new coasters. That is also why I have been suspecting GCI wood at BGW in 2003.

Matthew - who is sometimes one of the "people who knows" but not in this case.

It is a 305 foot Intamin gyro drop! Check out Coasterbuzz News :)
GhettoCoaster beat me to it,however I was correct on guessing that it would be a gyro drop from intamin vs an S&S tower like Speedfreak and a few others have said.
this park is only an 1hr away from me, YAY its a drop ride, OH mY GOD, and the most unnerving experience for me is drop rides, cause I have vertigo. I cannot imagin drop that high, I have only been on SFA's drop ride, 14 storys high and thats enough, Oh lord save me, I am going to dropping longer than Millenium Force, and that high just freaks me out. For those of you who have conquered higher than 220 ft, can you tell me how to prepare for this. JP, of course I will ride this thing cause I just get crazy, BUT ALL I ASK IS THAT THEY MAKE THIS RIDE LONGER THAN HYPER SONIC, I mean keep us up there for awhile so we can actually enjoy the ride, and say that we have atleast one long ride. And another thing for those of you in the area, LETS SEE WHO GETS TO OPPERATE THIS THING, PKD employee....hopefully for 2003 (hey that rhymes) for this 305 tf thingy!!!!

YES !!!!!! like PKD says, they'll take us higher ( if you pay attention to the commercials) from Last year

The Drop Zone at PKI about killed me... man. It was awesome, made all the better because I'm afraid of heights :-)
