PKD 2006 map

I don't know if this has been posted yet...but the Kings Dominon 2006 map has been posted and for sure Flight of Fear is NOT on it. Hopefully that will only be this year but only time will tell

Wow.

Maybe its going under a rehab thing... Or maybe it could be getting rethemed to one of the selections from that survey from a while back.

Whatever - I don't think they would completely remove it though. There's too much there to waste, the ride isn't in bad enough condition, and still gets a lot of riders; seems like too much of a loss to remove it.

I really hope they don't remove it, it may by the best ride there (with Volcano being about equal).
I do enjoy volcano, however, I could REALLY appreciate it if it was longer.

Slamming into those brakes at 60 mph can seriously kill the adrenaline.

I also hope they don't remove it, Willh, but change can be good sometimes, so we never know.

sad. that was easily the best-themed ride in the park. most likely the new theme will be super-annoying. (mtv)
This news is probably a month old.

At eastcoaster it was told that the ride will not operate at PKD in 2006.

Honestly, I think the ride is going bye bye. PKI's however is not, at least for now.

Chuck, who thought it was just a retheme thing, But now is very uncertain

I wonder if Paramount realizes how insanely appropriate it would have been for Italian Job to go to Carowinds (even PGA), which doesn't have a single launched coaster and the extreme theming would have beautifully fit in there. I would have gone for the Boomerang Bay retheme at PKD for 2006 instead, but truly I don't know anything about what either park actually needs. I do know that if I were between SFA, PKD, and BGW, Italian Job would not influence my decision on where to go if I was over 10 and even then it was just be because it was the new ride in town. It's an extremely solid filler attraction that will keep you happy through the park, but it doesn't blow you away.

Man this sucks. If they remove it, I'm going to be pissed. This was the first coaster I tricked my brother on to. I told him there were no inversions (he was terrified of going upside down.) Got him on, and BAM he loves coasters as much as me.

Who's to say that FoF won't be going to another park in the chain?

Who's to say FOF is going anywhere at the moment?

After the wait we had on it last year (80 minutes), I hope it's just a re-hab or re-theme. Because with a wait like that it's obviously still pretty popular! The most I wait at PKI for FOF is 30-40 minutes tops.

Originally, Carowinds was slated to get the IJ that PKD got. I was informed of that by a PCar official and another source that bid on the relocation of PKD's FoF.

FoF is headed to Canada's Wonderland, and the decision isn't final yet on the PKI's FoF relocation to Carowinds although it has been planned to.

I would've much rather had the IJ than than a BB expansion here at Carowinds. But I would rather have FoF than either.

Italian Job is such a stupid, zero longevity name. I'm glad Carowinds won't be getting it as such. The ride is good and with a different theme(Grease) would be great. That whole MTV theme may be out the window with the chain for sale.

When I go to the park with my friends (which has been with many friends, many times). They all say Volcano, then FOF, they never wanna do Hypersonic because the line is just SO slow. The GP really does like this ride and it is still popular. Let's hope its just getting re-themed. If it is getting removed, lets hope something like The Whizzer at SFGAm happens and it get's saved.

See that Tina? The employee at PCW's IJ did tell us Carowinds was getting one...seriously.

Honestly, it seemed a bit short-sighted to accumulate SO many launched coasters in one park when it could have "filled a need" in another one of the chain's parks...

A friend of mine DID refer to PKD as the "launch coaster capital of the world." :)

My prediction? It's definitely a goner at PKD, but I have a feeling we'll see it rise again up North.... way up North.

Is Paramount bored or something? At least the ride rotation program at SF made sense because most of those coasters looked cool but ultimately sucked and could bring in some new business for a year or two somewhere else. So many people mentioned the antique cars and flyers being gone at PKI this year, so I know the GP missed them quite a bit. It has been be quite expensive to remove, move, and rebuild a well-established and popular ride like that. Seriously, sending Son of Beast to PKD would be more logical than this.

Who's to say they might not be blocking off that section of the park in preparation for future expansion & that would explain the ride's closure for the season?

That area has quite a bit of land around it especially behind rebel yell's turn around that could be put to good use by the addition of a few complimentary attractions.

I just don't see the ride being removed at this point in time especially without notice, remember how PKI notified everyone of the flyer's relocation to Carowinds & invited everyone for a final ride? and after all the backlash the park recieved when the ride was relocated I highly doubt they'll be making such a mistake again as FOF is still a popular ride.
