Will the new coasterbuzz have the feature where you can post pictures RIGHT IN to the post instead of linking?

Not a chance. It will never happen on this site. People have no respect for intellectual property and don't understand that by deep linking a photo they're violating the copyrights of others.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but did you just say deepling to an image is a violation of copyright laws? This sounds rather "strange" to me..
I personally like the ability to add photo's to a post. It brightens up a topic, and this way you don't have to post a couple of hundred links if you want to show some photo's.. :)

Yeah, but think of those still on dialup. It would be hell to load a thread with a ton of pics. Besides, how would we limit the size of the image so its not huge? If someone it running a 1280 resolution and posts a large picture (to them), think of the size on a 800x600 screen?
Link to images. Thats best.

Thanks....as I know has happened to you, many people link my photos in message boards. It takes a TON of our bandwidth that we have to pay for. I try to resist changing the file name to some nasty picture to get the person in trouble on the message board for using my picture and bandwidth.

There's a high priority for me as well. Most off-the-shelf forum software has so much crap in it that no one ever asks why they allow it. Avatars aren't so bad, but these forums you go to where people have banners in their signature... why? Nobody cares that much about who you are enough to see some graphic dozens of times, perhaps even in the same thread.
And yes, deep-linking an image so it appears on another page is indeed copyright infringement, because the image appears outside of the context of its original placement. That's why, for example, online comics (and indeed this site) have code that checks the HTTP referrer to see that it's the page itself requesting the image, and not something else.
That "me too" coaster site that tried to start a club leeched logos from other sites constantly for awhile, until the other site owners got wise and started posting nudies in their place. Copyright aside, it doesn't even start to address the bandwidth leeching that takes place.

The problem comes when linking to a picture that isn't yours.
It's true that it depends on what you embed, but really, what would most people out there include? Out-of-context image use. What if, for instance, someone linked to an image on a commercial site, and that image was suddenly thought of as "that picture on Coasterbuzz".

Deep-linking, on its own, violates no laws whatsoever.
Maybe deep-linking isn't the term... off-site inline images is what isn't legal. If I were to put an image from McDonalds.com on my site, right in the page, that would be copyright infringement.

Lowtax has an anti-leeching script in place where if anyone tries to directly post a picture from somethingawful.com it turns into a picture of a giant, erect, dripping....well you get the rest of it. The point is, yeah it is easy to abuse and such. There are rules against it on every forum I've frequented that uses it though.
I've got the same. On a certain site that got its audience from another site they partenered with, they were doing it all the time. My logs showed hundreds of referrals from that site until I put the "this images was leeched" mechanism in place. If that wasn't bad enough, they couldn't see what they were doing wrong!
They finally got the clue when another Webmaster of another popular coaster site put up a nudie in place of the image they were leeching. He sent me a screen shot. I laughed.

A while ago several people were leeching my pictures to use as their little personal picture under their screen name in the danimation forums. This took an unbelieveable amount of MY bandwidth! (Not to mention mutiliating my pic). I debated for hours about putting a really nasty picture up, but instead just changed the file to a pic that said "Copyright Infringment". I wish I had put up a nasty pic....

The nasty pic would've been SO much more fun. Lowtax has used everything, from goatse man with his huge distended anus to tubgirl with her vociferous anal fountain of yellow and pain.jpg, an image made by the forums goons that comprises some of the worst stuff you'll ever see on the internet all in one big bundle of ouch. Now he sticks with a picture of a dripping phallus though. It's pretty entertaining.
