When did we get the option to put pictures in a post?
It is next to the "Remove Formatting" button at the top of the rich text post box. It's in icon of a cartoon tree.
I love the feature. Common sense would dictate that we are not to use it in every post just for the heck of it, and that we should use it only when the picture supports the discussion. I'm trying not to abuse it, because I want it to stay.
*Edited to add the word "is" to the first sentence.

Its only available when im on my desktop. On the ipad, there is only a place for text, with no other options.
It does, you just don't know the secret code. (Hint: try editing that last post in the mobile view.)

Apparently, it's taken me 2.5 years to attempt to embed a picture, but I finally want to and can't. Are there certain sites that I have to upload my picture to first or something of the sort?

Yes... you can upload to imgur or something similar, then use the URL for that and the icon of the little photo to point to it.

I upload my picture to Photobucket. I then copy the appropriate link beside the picture and come over here to CoasterBuzz and click the little icon that says "Insert/edit image". Then I paste the link in there.
Once you figure out how to do it, you'll never forget it. I assume that you could just as easily use another photo hosting website. I just use Photobucket because I have always used Photobucket.

I too use Photobucket, partly by default b/c my editor insists that photos be sent to him with the embed code from a photo-storing site, and partly b/c it has great editing features. I find that I can't post a video to Facebook without going through Photobucket: http://s1282.photobucket.com/user/bobbie1137/media/MVI_1532_zps8a25...rt=3&o=161
BTW, I just tried to upload a photo here by using the insert/edit icon and it didn't work for me.

You can't "upload" a photo to CoasterBuzz in the forum. You can embed one in a post, but it's uploaded to another site.

I've mentioned it before in my TRs. The forums doesn't work with Flickr, and I don't know why, and It's frustrating. I have over 20k photos on there, I just took over 3000 photos from recent trips in the last 3 weeks, and I can't share any of them.
Not much I can do about that. If Flickr doesn't want its photos to appear outside of Flickr, that's outside of my control.

They appear on every single other coaster website I post them on. And It isn't just flickr. I tried posting a few from other sites as well. Coasterbuzz only half works.
So are you going to just bitch and moan or describe what you are doing so maybe I can help you? If you're trying to paste in "BB code," you're right, that won't work. But if you take the URL of the actual image, and click the little picture icon and drop that URL into it, it will work fine.

I'm pasting the URL for the photo in the box that pops up after I click on the photo icon. I know BB code doesn't work on this site. I tried to post a screen shot, but that didn't work either. And it's hosted on Dropbox.
