People rescued from Speed

There was never any danger. Someone hit the e-stop, and the coaster drifted through the second lims, which, as the story said, did not fire. The train is supposed to stop there, and riders exit, via catwalk, fire truck, or pogo stick.

Not a big deal. Except for Sahara Maintenence, who have to remove the train, since the tight fit really doesn't allow a service road. All in the day of life in Las Vegas. *** Edited 4/8/2007 12:21:38 PM UTC by Agent Johnson***

I wonder why parks don't get some autonomous diesel-hydraulic track-pinch-wheel driven vehicle to recover stranded empty trains of steel roller coasters. B&M has designed a funny looking inspection vehicle but it is not powerful enough nor designed to pull or push trains.

Actually there are six coasters in Vegas!
I meant real coasters that change elevation by at least 20 feet or so.

Technically, there are 5 coasters in Las Vegas. Desperado is in Primm. And Dragon and DragonCoaster do count, whether they meet your 20 ft elevation requirement or not.

This coaster has always confused me especially looking at the last picture on RCDB http://www.rcdb.com/ig593.htm?picture=29 because it shows two trains on the track and I am still not seeing where all this stuff is taking place. Can anyone better explain the layout of this coaster?

Bolliger/Mabillard for President in '08 NOT Dinn/Summers

It's a stitched picture - look at how the background changes in the middle. That's the same coaster, taken a little bit of time apart.
You don't see where they pieced two pictures together?

There aren't two trains on the track at one time.

Edit: Forget it, I was beaten to it.

The layout of the ride is simple. There is a left, overbanked turn out of the launch area, a loop, a second launch area and a section of track that curves to the left as it follows the entrance to the Sahara casino before the vertical spike. Think of a demented "U" and maybe you'll get a better idea of what I'm talking about... either that, or go to Google Earth or something.

I hate when the media pulls crap like that. They blow everything out of proportion, acting like one of MGM's tigers got loose and was about to attack riders trapped in the train. The ride failed (for whatever reason) and people had to be evacuated- must have been a slow news day.
