Pennsylvania parks

I'm glad I didn't introduce sonnets!

Admit it Mike, you are dying to try your hand at iambic pentameter.

On topic, I would tend to agree with the "skip Hershey" crowd and do Knoebels and Kennywood, but if you've never been to Hersheypark and won't be that way again soon by all means make the stop. It is a tremendous park, but it can get insane busy just like most of the other Corporate parks out there. If that is the case and you haven't made your mind up about the second then I really won't be much help. I love both parks. Knoebels may be my favorite park ever, but Kennywood is awesome as well. Yes, Kennywood would make a shorter trip home for you, but it's a straight shot over I-80 in PA once you leave Knoebels.

(Pssst... Kennywood is a "corporate park" and it too gets busy.)

You guys crack me up! I never mentioned that I didn't like corporate parks. I love Cedar Fair parks.

Thanks for all the advice. We are looking forward to our little venture. Hitting the parks only on the weekdays will be the plan. Can't wait to ride Lightening Racer. It looks like a blast!!

But....But... only corporate parks get busy, ever! I've never waited in a single line at Waldameer, not once, never. Errr... wait.

I also never said I don't like corporate parks. I love 'em all -- from the tiniest little mom and pop operation to the biggest Seventeen Flags behemoth. I just love them in different ways.

Singing:

To all the parks I've loved before,
I've traveled in and out their doors.
I've ridden all their rides,
And slid down all their slides,
To all the parks I've loved before.

To all the parks I used to see
That kept me in my reverie,
For never doing harm,
Entrancing me with charm,
To all the parks I've loved before.

The names and rides are always changing,
Wish that they would stay the same,
And though in life I must keep ranging,
Part of me will always stay . . .

To all the parks that shined so bright,
Their rainbow colors in the dead of night
They fill my memory,
Turn sadness into glee,
To all the parks I've loved before.

To all the parks that made me laugh,
That beckoned down some wayward path,
Though they and I must part,
I'll stow them in my heart,
To all the parks I've loved before.

:)

Speaking of Hershey here's a pic of the new wavepool. Today was opening day, and my girl snapped this with her cell phone.

^^My pleasure. Gotta love Willy. Just the nicest, most harmless, well-meaning hombre out there.

^Added a winky, I see? LK, for you, my next coaster song will be an Anthrax cover. ;)

Yeah, I just never tire of putting my foot in my mouth. I keep forgetting that Parques Reunidos owns the place now, and they own a few parks. Since Kennywood Entertainment owned 3 parks I guess that would mean they have been "corporate" for a while. I guess it just never "felt" like one to me. I've been fortunate that all the times I have been there the park has never been what I would call busy. I think the longest wait I've ever had there was 20 minutes for the Racer of all things.

I was at my local Giant market today, and I noticed a sign that they are selling Hersheypark tickets through May 31 for $36.95. I think they only need to be purchased by that time, but can be used throughout the season. They are also running a special that if you buy 2 regular admission tickets, they'll give you a voucher for free parking. The parking voucher must be used by June 30 though.

When is a good time to go to Hershey and not get ridiculous lines? Prefereably on a weekend, if that's possible. I wanted to go next Saturday since it's early in the month and would still be cool weather, but Stormrunner is down. Assuming that they get it back up by then, how would the Saturday before Memorial Day be?

Ive never really experienced a packed day at Hershey, the park has some good capacity rides. When I was an SP holder my standard morning routine would be:
-Storm Runner
-Roller Soaker (if I was getting wet that day)
-Lightning Racer Mini Marathon (till I grew tired of it, they had to stop allowing rerides, usually a good 3-5 spins)
-The Whip
-Wildcat
-Tidal Force
-Raft Ride (RIP to one of the best of its kind :()
-Reeses Cup Challenge via Single Rider Line(mind you they still gave candy bars then)
-Great Bear
-Coal Cracker

I could get this done by 1 consistently, it really frees up the rest of your day to re ride, ride some flats, see some shows, visit Chocolate World, etc.

I've never really witnessed a packed Hersheypark either, I'm kinda surprised to hear of the ridiculous lines. The only lines that are usually on the long side (20-30 minutes) are Comet, Great Bear, Storm Runner, and Fahrenheit, but there are points throughout the day where you can catch the last three in 5-10 minutes. I still to this day don't get why Comet is ALWAYS packed.

^I know why, its the first one you see, the closest to the gate and the ride that all the locals remember fondly.

I really, really wish they would remove those MCBRs that has to be the most frustrating ride I have ever been on, this ride kicks through its first section and you just know that if they let it run free those last hills would be airtime machines, but no you get slowed and get zero air on the bunny hills.

I think those are all true facts, Touchdown. But I also tend to believe the unusually long wait/packed queue compared to the other coasters has more to do with their dispatching. It's the worst I have seen. A train stacks with every run and there is never really a big hurry to get the next one out of the station. It's pretty bad, I think.
