What parks do you think would be great if they added a coaster(s)?

"FEAR the Four!"
Kinda off the subject here, but I remember Knoebels when the area where the Phoenix is was a parking lot and their only coasters were the Jet Star (taken out in the early 90's) and the HSTC. Boy am I old. :)

The Legend Lives On
Oh the one park I can think of with no coasters is Bushkill Park. I was never there so I don't know what rides they have. I think the have an old pretzel dark ride, carousel, and maybe bumper cars. It's in Bushkill, PA. I don't think it's to far from Dorney actually maybe 45 minutes. I think it's one of the last picnic groves left. I don't know much about it.

DOWN WITH TRIM BRAKES!
Coasterpunk,
I went to Bushkill park last year. It was a very interesting experience for historical reasons. They have the old pretzel dark ride and they also have a classic funhouse from the thirties like on "Little Rascals". A wood spinning barrel, distorted mirrors, moving rickety stairs, wooden sliding board etc. They also had a whip that equals and maybe surpasses Knoebel's whip. It's a very small park and rides are 1 to 2 dollars each. Just north of Allentown, in Palmer PA. -Emil-
Knoebels slowed thier Whip down. It used to rin fast and "whip" around the turns. Now you just basicly glide around. :( The Flyers are stll run great though. :)

Definately Wyandot Lake. The Sea Dragon was my first rollercoaster. *cries* Sad huh? *wipes away tears* oh well. I was afraid then, now it seems barely taller than I am! :) However, it could use another coaster. Maybe two.

Where would Wyandot Lake put the Serial Thriller? I was just at the Columbus Zoo and the park's old Carousel is in a beautiful pavillion. It reminds me of a Coney Island pavillion I've seen in pictures, maybe Steeplechase? The Mexican Carousel at Wyandot appeared hald finished, the horses were on but the platform was missing.
Hey, Kennywood Fan: Your wish is apparently Waldameer's command -- according to AB, it IS getting another coaster in the next year or two. It will be called "Ravine Flyer II" and is to be built by CCI. See Amusement Business 8/21/00, p.36.
Greenfield Village in MI

The area at Wyandot Lake currently occupied by the Tony Hanneford shows tent seems like the most likely area if the rumor about serial thriller is true. There is also a spot behind the wave pool that just might fit something like that.
off topic but - why has Wyandot been so slow to assemble that carousel? They just started putting on the horses a few weeks ago and that isn't even half done yet.
Kennywoodfan, this year, Waldameer, my home park, is putting in a CCI coaster, can't wait! It will be about 110 feet high, and will go over a road (Peninsula Drive). It is going to be built this year.
We're lucky here in Erie because this coaster barely got past laws after a deadly accident on the original Ravin Flyer.

Regarding the Wyandot carousel...
First of all, that's a small park with a small maintenance staff. The carousel arrived on site just a week or two before the season started, and there were only one or two guys working on it. Add to that, it's complicated by a few factors...it's bigger than the building they're putting it in, they replaced all of the sweeps, they are replacing many of the support rods, and the drive system is almost all new. The machine arrived without assembly instructions, so they're piecing it all together. They had the platform on it, but the Six Flags safety consultant came through and told them they had to drop the platform another 7". So that means all the horse hangers, platform support rods, and bottom sleeves have to be replaced...again.
I'm not sure how far along they are now; I haven't been up there in a couple of weeks. I'm just glad they did get the Tilt-A-Whirl running for this season. I'm still upset that we lost the Rock-O-Plane, though. :(

Thanks RideMan, I've been wondering about that. Yes, I did notice that the carousel is larger then the building. It also looks to be pretty beat up and worn. Some of the mirrored panels are cracked pretty bad. I'm pretty new to Columbus so I never did get a chance to experience their Rock-O-Plane.
My wish came true 3 years ago when Marine World decided to become a animal/coaster park. It is now one of the countries best amusement parks.
What about Blands and Idlewild park?? They could use another coaster.
I'm surprised that nobody's mentioned EPCOT and Disney's Animal Kingdom. I went to both of these parks this summer and really enjoyed them, but they would certainly both be improved if they had a roller coaster or two in them.
Wyandot Lake update: The carousel is incomplete, and it still has the old fence, but it started carrying paying customers on either Thursday or Friday. I rode it Friday night. It still looks pretty much like crap, but it runs well. They'll spend the whole winter finishing up the decoration.
