What's wrong with PSU? Any school that hosts Rent can't be all that bad. ;)

I'm with Den here, what could be so bad about HW? Is owning the world's top wooden coaster a bad thing? Come on, at least give it a chance. It's not like it will be a total waste.

The riots won't go away but instead of students it'll be all the ex-OSU employees whose positions were eliminated during the budget crunch!

When I went to BGT in the summer of 2001, there was a small community college near it. My mom joked that I go to school there, but Florida is kinda far from AZ. That's all I know of. You know, PKI is sorta near OSU. *Sorta* meaning you can get there in a day. And SFA's in Maryland, so there ya go. At least you're not where I am. :-(

There is also a lot bigger school only a mile from the park called the University of Southern Florida. You see the school on the way to the park if you come in off of I-75.

Well, in a day you can get to like a dozen parks from OSU.

Seriously, I shouldn't diss OSU, after all I got my degree there.... not that it helped me get a high-paying job. But still, I had fun.... *without* drinking and rioting I might add....

Hey now, I'm a Buckeye (stillllll finishing) and my wife is a GTA Buckeye. No more Buckeye bashing. I won't be sad to see South Campus go-I had a friend get killed at Mustard's.

USF is a real "up-and-coming" school 'round hyeah....so is UCF.....they'll both be battling with FSU for second place in the years to come....in sports and academics.....:)

Mark - although I hate drinking, some of the Campus Partners foes have a point - if you destroy all the bars, the drinking is just going to move into the unsupervised streets. I'd rather have it inside a bar than in my front yard....

But you're right, that area is crap.

I guess I'll be the one to help you out with OSU, although it isn't too hard. PKI is about 1-1.5 hours, CP is about 2.5-3 hours, SFWoA is about 3-3.5 hours, Americana is about 1-1.5 hours., KW is 3.5 hours.

And yes, OSU campus is pretty much ghetto. Lots of slum lords from what I can see. It is a shame to see the bars, clubs and mom & pop stores get shut down and then demolished. In a couple of years good ole corporate America will be right on OSU's doorstep, as if Lennox wasn't close enough. And just in time for the kids in high school now who seem to be more driven by the media than ever. (No offense to anyone here in particular, but it does appear that way to me) But if it cleans up the violence in that area, I guess that's a plus. Luckily where I live it's just on the outskirts of complete OSU students. We've got some normal people living in amidst the renters, so it's reasonably quiet.

Don't pick anything in PA. Knoebels is almost as crappy as Holiday World. And Phoenix and Twister almost suck as much as Legend and Raven. Most of all, PPPP is a snooze-fest. You won't want to visit that park!

Looking into Rensselaer, huh? Good school. I graduated from there in '95. It's got some good Division I hockey if you like that.

As for coastering... not a whole lot nearby. The Great Escape is less than an hour north. I think SFNE is about 2 hours away. Other than that, I don't think there is anything nearby.

University of Illinois is 3 hours from either SFGA or SFStL and 2 hours from Indiana Beach-or skip the coasters and watch Illini or Chicago Bears football depending on the weekend! Purdue is super close to IB (under an hour). To note: IB's last day of public operation is Labor Day.

Delgrosso's and Lakemont Park are within 30 minutes of PSU and Knoebels is about 1 hr. - 2 hrs. away from PSU. Dorney Park is across the state, Kennywood is a good drive away also from the college.
