parks around amazing natural settings

I was just looking at the pics of dodonpa and the amazing view of the Mn. Fuji in the background, thats is truely a stunning location. It seems like japan has plenty of these type of parks set off in incredible settings.

What are some other obscure or less talked about parks with some amazing natural setting around them or incorporate into the park? We all know about CP, SFMM excellent setting.

Best Fortune ever!!

I think Kennywood's cliffside location adds to the overall feel of the park.

You are bold, but are you also...daring?

Lagoon Park in Farmington, Utah. The park is nestled right up against the Majestic Wasatch Mountains and surrounded with groves of Cottonwood Trees. :D

Salt Lake City, Utah. Host City of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games and the 2002 Paralympic Games - Light The Fire Within!

I have heard the landscaping and setting at Alton towers is exceptional. Looks like a great combination of coasters andsetting.

I forgot to mention a very obvious park and that would be BGW. Beautiful place with the vast amount of trees and the river running through it.

I have to concur with the Chuckster about Quassy and Lake compounce, they both have very pleasant and serene settings.

A relatively unknown park with a incredible setting is Old Town (Ithink thats what it is called), the park with the old Hopkin coaster called Ghost in the Sky. the park is set among the Smoky mountains and provides exquisite vistas of the the mountain. Its hard to find the place but the location is just gorgeous.

SFFT's setting is impressive, but it isn't quite natural. The cliff is from a quarry, not natural.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the beautiful hills, valleys, and water of Busch Gardens Williamsburg.

Sethman the park is called Ghost Town in the Sky the ride is calle Red Devil it's in Maggie Valley N C Old Town is in Kissimee FL

Morey's Pier! Right next to the beach and on almost ever coaster you get a great view of the beach up the lift.

Ghost in the Sky is the most spectacular park setting I've ever been to. Your on top of a mountain with the most incredible views of the Great Smokey Mountains and the Valley below. Red Devil and some of the other rides hang off the side of the mountain face. Absolutely beautiful park.

take it easy

Alton Towers does look nice. The British are so lucky, with all those castles they have :-) It's easy to see where Chris Sawyer got his ideas for some rides and scenery in RCT.

I thought Dollywood was in a nice setting, and so is Ghost Town in the Sky in Maggie Valley, NC. (I think it's still called that, if it's even still open.) That looping rollercoaster right on the side of a mountain is so cool looking driving over to Asheville from Cherokee.

Sorry, Dale - I didn't see your post about Ghost Town. I agree with you 100%. Where else can you find such a view?
you may think we are lucky in england to have nice scenery and stuff, but it actually plays havoc with our theme parks. for example, alton towers arent allowed to build above tree height and all of the attractions have to be quiet, hence the fact that there will never be a wooden roller coaster at alton towers. you dont know how lucky you americans are!

Alton Towers is bar none the most beautiful theme park I've ever been to. Amidst the 16'th century Earl of Shrewsbury's ruined castle, the royal gardens and now THREE B&M coasters, what's not to love? Although there's a height restriction to new construction on the grounds (nothing can be built above the tree tops), this adds to, rather than detracts from, the coasters that are there. It's a really unique park and I was fortunate to have been able to visit it (even if it was during the mad cow scare and there were antiseptic mats all over the park).

As far as American parks goes, my vote goes to Busch Gardens Williamsburg, who have done a marvelous job of combining the feel of the old country with modern thrill rides. And, yes, Kennywood is quite beautiful, too, with the exception of the panoramic view of the steel mills (the inside of the park is much better).

Dollywood is "nestled" among the foothills of the Smokey Mountains. It's a beautiful setting with the park meandering throughtout the valleys created by the surrounding hills. It also makes the park feel even larger than it is because one cannot see very much of it from any one spot.

I didn't have time to stop (I was in the area for a friend's wedding), but I must agree that Ghost Town in the Sky was in an AMAZING location.

Beautiful Lake Erie? Isn't that an oxymoron?
