I don't know about the parking at Disney since I haven't been there in years, but the parking for UO and IOA makes trams unfeasible. You park in a 3 story covered parking garage. Not to mention the fact that after you descend from the garage, you emerge right into CityWalk, where motor vehicles of any kind are not allowed. Not even the park staff use cars or golf carts or anything like that to get around. Besides, you have to walk around the parks all day anyway......so walking a little more to get from the parking garage to the park isn't that big of a deal to me.
Universal doesnt need trams, they have the people movers with the kickin tunes to listen too as you are carted on your way to CityWalk. What I am talking about is trams at places like SFGAm or Cedar Point where you end up having to hike it to get to the front gate. I will admit it. I am lazy. If I can cut out a half mile of walking to get to the front gate and another half mile when I am already dog tired after the day is over then I am all for it.

SteelRevenge2.......I hope you mean Preferred parking is $4.00......not $400. Otherwise, I don't think I'll be driving to Kennywood anytime soon. ;)
No, Kennywood is only $4.00 for prefered parking
I don't mind paying high parking fees. I used to pay $10 for premium parking at BGW whenever I went there, before I started getting season passes which gives me free regular, or discounted ($4?) premium parking. Like someone said earlier, parks have a lot of bills, in amounts I could not even imagine. Being the purchaser of our utilities and fuel for the prison I work for, I can say we shell out easily almost a quarter million a month in just those expenses. Now I have to figure that a substantial size theme park would be at least five times the size of our prison. I can't even imagine the electric bill alone!!
Sure parks are there to make a profit, but they also need to make money to cover the bills too. I'd rather pay $10 to park, than $10 for a small soda, or $50 for lunch. I guess $10 for parking does seem a little excesive, but I always figure there is a method to all madness.

Enjoy yourself. These are the good old days you're going to miss in the years ahead.
I could see them offering that much if they gave you a choice of purchasing a parking pass, but with SFWoA only offering the 5 parking passes for $20, it's like they're blackmailing you.
I intend on complaining to try to get some neg. feedback going to the park, I wouldn't care if they raised the season pass prices because of it, I'd just like to see something.

Another thing to consider: small parks, as a rule, don't have shareholders. A Holiday World, being privately held, can offer free parking as a competitive advantage. Companies like Six Flags or Cedar Fair are legally obligated to maximise shareholder value, and would be foolhardy to ignore such a profitable revenue stream. Companies in other businesses have been sued by activist shareholders for ignoring 'obvious' sources of revenue.
Short comment made long--- but if you don't like the price, walk away, if the issue is of sufficient importance.
There's nothing we can do about this either! There's no way to protest! Where would we park if we didn't want to put 8 bucks to parking? At some parks next to interstates, there is nowhere even remotely close that you can find to park your car! It's outrageous!

"Maybe the restraints will work better next time!"
I heard that SFMM doesnt own its parking lot....hmmm
I know large stores in shopping centers don't own there parking lots, but a theme park.....hmmmm

As for trams...I think Disneyland Resort has the best system. I mean you park in the garage and the escalator drops you off at the tram "station". It drops you off right at the esplanade. When its time to go home walk to the "station" and get back on the tram. They dont force you to take the tram (you can walk), but I think the cost of convenience is worth it.
SFMM has a tram system, but it seems like they never have enough trams so its quicker to make that long trek around hurricane harbor
USH also has a parking garage thats close to the entrance.

SFoG is $10 regular parking, $12 preferred. We bought a $25 year pass for the regular lot, but still didn't feel good about it, especially since we can only use it at the one Six Flags park, and we plan to visit several parks this year.
Parking at Dollywood is $5, or free with a Gold Pass. They have an enormous parking lot with a great tram system. I can't remember the last tram I saw in a SF parking lot, even at one charging $9 to park.
The irony of SFoG's $10 "value parking"...I mean c'mon, where's a good Judge Judy reference when you need one....How about "Don't piss on ME and tell me it's raining", or something like that....
I would've gone for the $25 pass, but the park's pretty far away. When are we gonna get an annual parking pass good for those of us who travel hundreds and thousands of miles to visit several different parks in a year? There are no SF parks close by, but we visit 4-6 of their parks a year, probably about 10 days a season...and I certainly do my best to bring the industry of BUNCH of "non-enthusiast" business...;)...How about charge me $40-50 for a pass good at all SF parks for one year?

X Looks Awesome! Oh Yea!!
Well, you sure did hit a nerve here, John!
I think that if there's a parking fee it should be for:
a) convenience (parking closer)
b) if it's in a metropolitan area where others would be prone to using it.
or, c) if a service (like trams, moving walkways, or perhaps free beer) is provided.
In case you didn't know, Kennywood's FREE parking provides you with a FREE minibus or ski lift ride directly to the gate and then back again at night.
Oh, and parking by PNC Park in Pittsburgh is $3 after 6pm.
You people are being ripped off.

But I was in the whole dilema this week at PKD, should I buy the stupid season parking pass? I think that spending already 14 bucks parking there this season so far. The pass is good only at PKD, but I may not make it back for more than one day, worse case scenario(we of course, plan to get up there as much as possible). I have a few free for June parking passes, which I'll be lucky to use, but we plan on getting back to PC this year, plus a possible PKI trip with a visit to relatives in IN. I still have to pay at those other parks IF I make it there. I KNOW NOT WHAT TO DO! The universal parking pass, even at like 40-50 I think somebody mentioned, would be fair. We already balanced the costs of a few days admissions versus springing for the passes, which as few days off as we gather, already isn't saving us too much, once PARKING is figured in.
I feel a little better paying so much when the lot is in good repair & there's officers directing traffic through the lot.
