Parking charges have gotten out of hand

at Ed Debevic's in Chicago, they charge I believe $6 for parking. Just for a restaurant.

If the world was perfect, we would have a rollercoaster at every corner.

People have to park, so why not jack the price?! Every time i pass PKI on a weekend, the lot is full. I figurem hey, more money... the better the upcomming attractions!

If they are going to raise the prices the least they can do is buy a shuttle to cart my fat lazy a$$ up to the gate. All the parks I have been to in Florida do it in some way or another why cant Six Flags or Cedar Point for that matter do it?

At Marine World, there are a couple of hotels right across the street. I always just park at either one of them. Sometimes, there is a security guard blocking one of them (usually on busy summer weekends), but I have never experienced a time when both weren't open.
In Ocean City, NJ in the summer on big nights, 4th of July and NIght in Venice some parking lots charge 12- 15 bucks. Just to go on the boardwalk. Granted you can park on the other streets 2 blocks away for free, but right on the boardwalk its high. Luckily I am young and able to walk, but what about the ppl who need to park close
I agree with you on the Trams Kick The Sky. If you're going to be paying 10 bucks for parking they can at least run the trams.

I never pay for parking when I go to Darien Lake. There is some business office right before the entrance and I just park there. Before I had my season pass I used to use the hotel across Marine world. Now they let me park free as long as I get there b4 10.

For $10 at PKI, they should let me park in the tram circle!
I seem to have heard that somewhere before....*cough* Rideman's great KI TR* cough*.....I too get in a very depressed state once I arrive at Great America, or any other park that is not included on your pass. Long live Holiday World and the others that follow in their footsteps!

I agree that $10 for SFNE is really expensive, But CANOBIE LAKE PARK always has FREE PARKING!

Im the #1 Canobie Lake Park Fan!!!These are my top 3 coasters:
1. S:RoS @ SFNE 2. Yankee Cannonball 3. Cyclone

i once had to pay $35 bucks for parking at mammoth mountain (in california) because the mountain ran out of parking spaces and told people to park in the nearby hotels. it was even worse because of the time incovenience and it was COVERED in snow at the end of the day. this makes 7 dollars for amusement park parking look dirt cheap, especially when it is in a garage like at disney or universal.
One tactic we could all use but most don't is to express our rage or appreciation in writing after we come home. We could all write Kennywood, Holiday World, Knoebels, etc., and thank them for the free parking, and tell them that will draw us back for additional visits. And we could all write the extortionist parks and complain and tell them that will force us to take our business to other parks. Five letters wouldn't matter. 500 would.

Maybe the prices are so high is because lazy park guest cannot use trash cans as design for. The park service department or whatever the department who handle parking lot clean up has to clean up the parking lot, and the only way to pay for them is your parking fee.

That's what i think...

Don't assume that they are in it for the money.

Trekker, that is a fantastic point. Some of us have done that, but not as much as we should. I can't afford the internet anymore because of all my parking fees! Oh wait....

I prebought my parking for SFWOA. $20 for 5 parking passes. not bad.

As for outrages fees. Not coaster related, but to park in the structure at comerica Park (detroit tigers) it costs a whopping $25. ouch!

Cornerstone Festival 2002... I will be there

There are some abandoned hotels across the street from Cyclone @ SFNE where you could park...

If you think about it, it all adds up. You hire 3000 line associates making 5.25-7.50/hr, and multiply that by about 2000 hours per associate, per season, and you get a pretty big check. That does'nt include management and fulltime employees who work more, and get paid more. Plus all utilities, and cost of ride purchases. I'm sure the monthly electric bill for a park is pretty high, and the water bill, and all the other things a park pays for.............I would charge $10 bucks to park if I had those bills.

I know I'll end up paying $10 for Six Flags Great Amercia when I go on June 4th. I've also noticed that VF's parking has gone up in the past few years. They are now up in the $7.00 range.

Parking is out of hand - you figure after (4) visit's you've paid for another season pass! not to mention next year's parking likely will be 12 bucks or more
Kennywood only charges $400 for Perferd parking and anywhere else it's FREE!!
