Park with the most total feet of coaster track????

Tuesday, April 7, 2009 12:07 PM

I know as of a couple years ago that KI had the most wooden total footage of wooden coaster track. Im just wondering if Diamondback doesn't put it in the running for the park with the most coaster track (Any Kind) in the world. Three huge coasters in Beast, SOB and Diamondback. Six intermidate. Racers, Votex, Firehawk, Adventure Express and a number of small ones,

Chuck, guess I'll have to get the caculator and RCDB. What parks are in the running? CP, SFGADV? Blackpool, SFMM.????

I think you may be right in guessing Kings Island. It helps a lot having the two longest wooden coasters.

Nope. Cedar Point still has more, even without knowing Wicked Twister and counting Gemini only once, CP still has 10,000 feet on KI.

From my quick estimates:
Canada's Wonderland: 30538 ft
Kings Island: 43893 ft
Cedar Point: 55297 ft

Well that lunch break went by fast...

I remember when CP debuted MF one of the "ten world records" it broke was most track in one park and I think it's was around the high 40's at that point.

My completely pointless trivia question of the day:

How many Jr. Gemini's would it take for KI to reach CP?

.

.

.

The answer: About 26.

Kings Island's lack of B&M coasters hurt their numbers. Instead of having your typical B&M invert or looper they have the shorter Backlot, Invertigo, and Flight of Fear coasters.

Shuttle coaster really hurt the track length total.

Just for the record, I'd include both sets of track on the double tracked coasters.

Regardless of your stance on credit counts, the coaster track exists.

Good call, I updated the list and counted in the second track of any listed twin coaster.

I count the credits too. Theres differences in each ride including view. Well maybe the Mobious ones like Kennywood but have you ever ridden the entire circut without getting off?

However I would be one of the ones who don't consider Thunder Run at CW or Fire in the Hole to be Rollercoasters.

Kraxle, did you check Hersheypark in your calcs? Looking at your numbers for Carowinds, I think HP can match or pass it, especially counting both sides of Lightning Racer, which is well over 6000 feet by itself.

Theres differences in each ride including view.

There are different views on each side of Voyage. Can I count that coaster as "2"? Oooh, wait! The view changes from day to night; from front to back...now I'm up to 6!

Good call. By that notion, My much less experienced count surpsses yours :) I've got over 200 credits on Beast alone :)

RGB, thanks for the heads up. I had completely forgotten about Hersheypark, and it has a considerable amount of coasters. It hopped into the #9 spot on the list.

^

1. Those numbers don't even come close to bringing it within the top 10.

2. The park doesn't exist anymore.
