Park of MOA/Nick Universe

Well it looks like progress is underway for the Spongebob Squarepants Rock Bottom Plunge and Avatar Airbender. Nothing much to look at yet, but it seems to be that some structure and tracks are in place.

Here are links to their construction web cams:

I figure this might help in the post holiday off season boredom.

At least soon the Twin Cities will have two steel loopers to claim. One being year-round.

Thanks for another great season, VF!

I didn't realize that they were building a half-pipe as well. I guess I wasn't paying attention.

Just a note: Unlike the Zamperla "Avatar" at PKI, this is an Intamin halfpipe. For those who care....since this one at MoA actually "coasts". ;)

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

I've heard that they hope to have construction completed by March. Looks like a long way to go.

I hope they are not any Weather Delays.

As a kid we always made the trek up to the Twin Cities for New Years and attended the New Years Parties at Camp Snoopy. So I for one am a little sad to see that fountain go (in favor of the half pipe) it was around that fountain where the NYE fireworks show was held, which with the new ride there Im guessing that they discontinued those parties, which is a shame, it was always fun to be riding the Ripsaw, Log Ride and (later) Ghost Blasters until 2am.

2022 Trips: WDW, Sea World San Diego & Orlando, CP, KI, BGW, Bay Beach, Canobie Lake, Universal Orlando

Can't wait for these things to open!

Totally not a long way to go, either. Each time I go to the mall (which is about once a week :)), I am shocked at the progress. The halfpipe track went up in 3-4 days. I wouldn't be suprised if SpongeBob is testing by the first week in February.

Too bad annual passes are going to be so ridiculously priced, or I'd for sure get one.

Wow track is already going up for the Rock Plunge now. I swear it wasn't up earlier today.

The Halfpipe at Elitch's is great. I thought this one was going to be another Disk-O until recently. Wow, four coasters in the mall now. Just as long as they don't get rid of the Tumbler, right Bill? ;)

I was just there when they were putting up footers and I was telling my cousin where I thought each section of the ride was going to be and so far, I am exactly right and I find it quite funny.

^I called where stuff was going to go when Jeff visited in May...waaaay before demo.

I think that makes us both super awesome coaster nerds :)!

^^^Matt, you'd have known about the Halfpipe sooner if you weren't busy being relocated - now DelGrosso's doesn't have the only "imported loopy thing" in PA... ;)

Personally, I like the ride experience better on the Zamperlas. Seating configuration on the halfpipe means half the people get their ears/heads knocked around on the launch...I guess that's the "price" of getting a credit, huh?

P.S. The Tumbler is OFF-LIMITS. Getting rid of that means I'd have to go to Puyallup every year...LOL!

^^ LOL

Oh I just thought of this as a trivia question can anyone guess, for a cookie where they stored the trains for Ripsaw when they took down some of its track hint its not the station.

I would guess....

NOT in the shark tank below.:)

I often wondered how they even get the parts and equipment into the center of the mall anyway. But I never realy investigated that.

And yes, the Tumbler is the best flat there. It should never leave.

I guess no cookie for me.

Thanks for another great season, VF!

Spongebob's 'look ma, no footings' appearance always...kinda throws me off. (Actually, the surrounding concrete is flush to their surfaces)

-'Playa

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.

Uh...on the transfer track?

What kind of cookie are you giving away?

On the storage track which is hidden somewhat inside/behind the log flume's mountain.

Stop looking at the ride!

The train was sitting on the block brake, that goes through the flume mountain, when I was there in November.

Both of you are right they hold one train in the mountain one just outside of the mountain.
