Park Locator

Most of the travel plans I make are not focused on amusement parks :(. They are usually work related or some other family travel destination. Anyway, whenever I have a chance, I like to get away to the park nearest my travel destination and wrap that into my plans :).

Recently, I was using the CoasterBuzz park reference by state to help me find parks near Myrtle Beach (wanting to include Carowinds as well) and it got me thinking ... Wouldn't it be sweet if I could enter my destination and ask for all parks within a certain distance?

It would be sweet, and I looked into some of the mapping services out there. The problem is the huge bucks they want to plug into their programming interfaces. Yikes! I did the same thing last year when I did my Mid-Atlantic tour. I had to go by state then plug in locations to see where I could go. I hope to come up with something.

I'm also looking into some kind of travel service that will book for you. That might be possible, and maybe the referral cash can compensate for the insanely soft ad season we're having.

The Roller Coaster Database already does thi sto some degree. You can enter a starting point and how big a radius you want to search in. It doesn't give an actual map but it will tell you how many miles and what direction to go in.

Couldn't you just make a page with a very large map of the U.S. with major Interstates and destinations and put dots on the map for all the parks that would link you to that parks page. It could only be one page or you could do it by region sort of like what six flags has on their pick a park page.
