Park Enthusiasts or Snobs?

Preach it, brutha!

There you are! I was beginning to wonder... ;)

And Jeff:

When conversation is reduced to talking about boobs, farting, drinking and at times the meaning of life, that's the good stuff.

I thought that by talking about the first two, you are talking about the 4th by default... ;)

And Playa:

Although you are indeed arrogant, you make us laugh, and that's okay. ;)

I love the rides, but for ****'s sake, can we talk about something else in person? I get my fill of that here.

I finding talking about coasters one of the enjoyable aspects of going to a park. Of course, I usually go with people who are not enthusiasts and this is the only time the subject comes up.

It just seems natural. When we are at a baseball game, we talk baseball, when we are at a casino we talk gambling, when we are at a strip club we talk about...well you see where this is going.

And a vivid sense of imagination playa doth has. Complete with an alter ego (CO), and league of followers (MoJ) :-/ , and a knack for coming up with some weird outlandish isht.

Anyway, dexter, its hard (for me atleast) to get worked up over people we don't know and perhaps never will know. Save your energy for something else. Entiendes?

I saw myself going down the path of snobbery a while ago, but I noticed and made sure I "toned it down" a notch or two. I have also picked up another hobby so I can adaquetly split my time up and perhaps acheive balance. I now have picked up the BBQ bug, (charcoal only, no gas grills for me) and have been spending alot of time perfecting my recipes for ribs, pork shoulder and chicken. I even cooked our Thanksgiving turkey on my BBQ.

I may be crossing into BBQ snob territory, because now that my ribs blow away Tony Roma's, I won't eat there anymore.

That's right... Roller Coasters and BBQ, sorry ladies, I'm married. BTW, I also love talking about boobs and farts. Which begs the question... if you fart in the forest and nobody smells it, did it stink?

Pass da' sizzrup, bro!

Soggy, Hank Hill tells me you should only use propane for grilling....it's "God's gas" ya know...;)

Which leads to the second issue....the trees smelled it...(sorry, just saw The Two Towers recently).

Snob? First I'd have to find someone I'm *better* than...:)

Playa, you arrogance is annoying, with all due respect. I know a lot of people think it but never say it.

I don't think anybody here needs you or anybody else to speak for them, we're all VERY outspoken.

I will say in all honesty that I think Playa does take certain things too far sometimes, but hey, he feels the same about me. In total truth, though, I don't know anybody on the site personally and don't know if I would like most of you in person or not. I'd actually like to observe Playa in his natural habitat one day and see if he is as funny in life as he is on the site(and I mean that in a very nice way, not being sarcastic or rude).

But I agree with Jeff, Moosh and others. If all you can do with a person is talk about one thing(in this case coasters), then it can get very boring, monotonus(sp?), and tedious.

I talk to mOOSH, gator, Koaster King and a few others(nasai when he decides to jump on) on AIM. When we talk, its rarely about coasters. Infact, I usually only talk about coasters with gator, and thats not all the time by any means. ITs truely like a phone conversation "Hey whats up, whatcha doin?" etc.

Everyone gets Critical about things they like because we all have differing opinions. I've never met any enthusiasts, and if I ever did run into anybody on here in a park(with the exception of the peeps I talk to on AIM all the time), it would probably be no more than an intro and have a good day.

When I'm at a park, I don't talk alot about coasters because I'm there riding and experiencing them, so in line, I talk about other things.

Later.

Playa makes my point by showing his a hole side whenever anyone either a) makes a spelling error, or b) says what they REALLY think of him. Thank you Cap'n annoying.

Soggy, I myself, realized that I was becoming an amusement park snob who annalized every small detail a few years back. It wasn't easy to change back into someone who just loved parks. Like you picking up more hobbies, I started writing music again and that seemed to help with the problem.

So I am speaking from expierence when I said in an earlier self-deleted post that MAYBE park snobs have other problems outside of an overflowing garbage can or a ride being down.

The way I look at it, if you post or read to a coaster related board, or if you enjoy going to parks and riding coasters, you are an enthusiast. Like it or not. It doesn't matter what club someone is in or how they look. Remember, as much as some of you make fun of others, you do share something in common.

After all, isn't riding coasters about having a good time? If someone is constantly more concerned about who is riding in front of them during a ride or what they are wearing instead of enjoying the actual ride, then perhaps they should find another hobby or something.

Then again, that's just my views on the whole thing.

Right on, Sean! I've never understood why/how "enthusiast" become such a dirty word.

mOOSH [enthusiast and proud of it]

It's your arrogance! Your! With an 'r'! Could you please hate on a bruthah in grammatically correct fashion already? Yeesh!

Exactly who calls it an 'a hole side' anyway? I always used to call it my back. What you choose to focus on is up to you...oh, who am I kidding? From now on, I'm wearing long jackets when I post. (Shivers)

And how have the massive but unseen army of people who hate my guts failed to notice your cue to arise and conquer the world with you as their leader? Beats me. I'll bet a few realize this is just a silly little message board.

Free...your...wedgie.

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.

I agree, if you want to point out arrogance, atleast make sure you spell right. Its hard to not make a comment when you point out flaws by throwing out flaws of your own, dex.

It seems that everybody that "hates" CO has either disappeared(hmmmm.....kinda freaky, where you hidin them thar crazies, Cap?)from the site, or don't post alot anymore. I'm sure you'll eventually fade too.

Au contraire. I'd say most people I've debated are still here and just fine. I'd even go so far as to say most of the 'angry' folks belatedly got the joke, too...Right, TS? Koaster Kiddie? Opthodoc? Rentzy? Eric.Walton? (just to name a few)

Oh yeah--let's not forget wahoo. Look at 'im down there yelling, "Me! Me! I'm a punching bag, too!" ;)

Playa and I have gone a couple of rounds in the past. No harm done. When I put on my glasses he stopped beating me.

I don't know... this last year it has been worse than any time I can remember. Remember... perception is reality, and while only a limited number of people in the community have done some really stupid things, it reflects poorly on all of us.

It's kind of like the world and the way it sees Americans.

Jeff - Editor - CoasterBuzz.com - My Blog

I never hated you, though, and I doubt the others did either. Angry and hate are totally diffrent. The ones that you really attacked(and with good reason) aren't here anymore, and I don't think its totally cause of you:), but they're the ones that everyone attacked. Dex just comes out of nowhere to say "what everyone else is thinking" and starts to say things that aren't true.

I have and will continue to speak my mind on you and everone else. But in alot of the cases what you say is true, you just say it in a way that some of us wouldn't do. I'm actually more outspoken and more direct/blunt in person than I am on here, mostly because this is as I have said before a place where I come to have fun, not to bash others so much, but I will if the case comes up.

I have lots of other intrests, work, religion, janet jackson, halle berry, star trek, star wars, yes I'm an Uber-Geek/UltraDork. And I love it. I Love Lord of the Rings, Matrix, Travel Channel, Clubbing, and alot of other things, but I've found alot of cool people to talk to and interact with on this site. Yes I'm an enthusiast. Am I a snob? I don't think so.:)
