painful coaster experience

If you're not paying attention, Mega Zeph will throw your back out of joint riding in the back seat. Darn G-trains. I can't believe you like them, Bill. I don't care if they DO track better, they're brutal.

jimster - I rode Mean Streak in 1998 and got beat up something fierce. I got a bruise on my back, right near my spine, and had a headache for four days afterward. I figured I must have gotten a mild concussion from all the jostling. I have no idea why that ride was so rough, but, apparently, nothing has been done to remedy Mean Streak's problem. There are so many people with stories like ours.

Between Iron Wolf and Shockwave @SFGAm I usually need 3 Advil after riding them. I ride them once a year and then usually dont ride them anymore the rest of the year. Shockwave is the worst with that quick latteral left right before the brake run.

Kumba at BGT also requires me to take 3 Advil. If they redid the wheels on it I think it would be a fun coaster but right now it is running on square wheels and is extremely painful.

Marquette a five seed? They were robbed!!!

My most painful ride was on the Mind Eraser at SFWoA. I got a bad headache for like 3 days and it jerked my head so hard that my earring made my head bleed. And my neck has never felt the same since then. That was the first and last time I rode that ride.

Funny thing that, the MOST painful experience I can remember was from the darn "clip-thingy" on Woodstock Express. I've banged many an elbow (ouch!) and even bruised a rib or two (Twister), but the blood-blister on my hand lasted, and HURT!

Can't say this probably doesn't also belong in the "most embarrassing" thread now that I think about it...it's a KIDDIE coaster. And 2hostyl, that is probably the ONLY thing ever to come from Ah-Nold that I found that amusing...

my most painful ride was on the screechin' eagle at americana park. my friend knew the coaster operator and when we arrived the back seat was roped off. when we asked about it, he then opened it up for us. he then speeded up the chain lift (it was about 10 minutes before closing time) and gave us five rides in a row. the turnaround threw you into the lap bar at full force and also to the side. every drop was painful. after that it has to be the coney island cyclone in the back seat about 10 years ago. the seat came loose and slided foward and going down the second and fifth drops i kept hitting the back part of the seat that was loose. needless to say i had a bruise on my behind for about a month. ouch!

vacoasterfreak...if you go to Japan and ride Fujiyama, you will be proud to be one (I am one too) of the last fans of "good" TOGOs (they do exist, people...you just have to go where they are). Now, if you want to be terrified, and learn very quickly how to hate TOGO, I would suggest a ride on Fujin Raijin II at Expoland in Osaka, Japan. Ungodly awful.....

Find out why my website rocks!

MS must not have been running too bad last year, I hadn't rode it in a couple of years and rode it last year and it wasn't rought at all, too dang slow to be rough.

Does CCI know how to make a bad coaster?

On the Dragon Coaster in Rye Playland, i had my hands up and slightly to the side, with my left hand holding my hat. On the last straightaway right before the station i slammed my hand on a support... needless to say it hurt bad and i lost my favorite hat :(

Here We Go!

SOB bruised my elbow when it first opened.

Kennywood's Steel Phantom had to be the most painful coaster I have ever encountered. The first two drops were great, but after that it was just pure pain. We rode it three times... once in the front seat where it was rough but not too bad. Then we rode it in the back. Again, rough, but tolerable. The 3rd ride was in the next to last seat. This was pure agony. I never had my head and shoulders battered around as much as on that ride. I swear I blacked out at least twice and my wife swears she did the same. Never was I praying for a ride to be over as much as that.

Even Dorney's Hercules I could take (and in an odd sort of way I like), but not the old Phantom.

Well I hate to say this but my Excalibur at Valleyfair is to rough of a ride for me and painful. I can only see my self riding maybe 2 or 3 times during the season. Everytime I ride it I always seem to get a headake getting off it.

Personally, I love Ex and can marathon the beauty of the ride for quite some time. However, I do know some people that get headaches pretty easy or people who have weak necks that don't care much for Ex.

Knock on wood I've never really had any real bad coaster experiences in terms of painful. Shockwave (SFGAM) and Ninja (SFSTL) were uncomfortbale but I didn't find either of them to cause any real pain.
