Ozark Wildcat, one of the best?

Thanks to Jeff for posting, I think he mostly lurks here but we'll try our best to be *inviting* so maybe he'll visit more often...:)

Hmm... Perhaps, we'll see ;)

Setting the coaster aside for a second and talking about the park, what did you think of it? I personally liked most of the themeing, but on the whole it made me feeling like something was missing - I can't put my finger on it though. My first thought was the lack of shows and street entertainment - but I think that it's maybe the lack of people there. I'm not sure though - Jeff your thoughts?

Jeff King, thank you *very* much for your post. I have extremely similar tastes in wooden coasters as you do it seems (Legend is also my #1 wood and I like, not love the GCI's I've ridden

and your review was very valuable to me!

You're welcome - pleasure's all mine. Glad to be of help. No, it's not quite "Get in your car NOW," but it was much better than I had anticipated. I'm very much looking forward to my return. It's one of those "grow on you" rides. BTW, Jack Rabbit looks to be a *hoot.* Must. Ride. Soon.

It's getting late, so brief thoughts to follow :)

Theme job is fantastic. Same wonderful attention to detail that we've become used to from the folks at SDC. I *loved* the shops, restaurants, archetecture, etc. There is major attention to detail and it shows. The large former entrance building (for Branson USA) has been fabulously re-done to a "Route 66" theme. LOVED it.

Landscaping is also top notch and should, naturally (pun intended) improve with age. They did a great job making you feel as if the park has been there for awhile.

Employees are very, very friendly - trained, obviously in the same manner as SDC. You're a *guest* and it shows!

As far as what's missing, hmm... I think that you're right in the lack of shows/entertainment but I'm sure that will change once high season is here. Maybe the "problem" (mind you, I don't really HAVE a problem with the park) is that the park's amenities, themeing etc. are that of large, more established parks and I think that when we visit a property that is this nice, we're used to having more rides, bigger coasters, etc. It's sorta like taking IOA (I'm tired, remember) :) leave all the restaurants, themeing, services, etc. and remove half the rides. Make sense?

Okay, bedtime now.

Ok, I think you're right. I guess I'm just jadded and spoiled and want things now. Afterall, this my 12th park of the season already. :)

Just my .02 cents.
Park is coming along nicely for a smaller scale park in its first season.
Landscaping is improving daily as more flower beds, shrubs and trees are being added all the time.
Very much looking forward to trying out the Jack Rabbit as it looks like it will be zippy and a lot of fun.
Ozark Wildcat is a good, solid, fun ride. I think it is going to be a huge hit with the general public which is its target audience after all. The thing that I like about the coaster is that I have seen a number of older, retired folks (WHAAAT, older, retired aged people in Branson!?!? :) ) ride the coaster and really enjoy it and the same with younger kids. The general public seem to really love the bunny hops on the end run and the smoothness of the ride judging by their comments. Enthusiasts views, I feel, will run the gamete. Some will dig it while others will be left cold by it. Roller coaster likes and diss-likes are a matter of personal preferences just like favorite movies, music, tv shows, etc.

My wish list for the parks second season;
Morgan cars in the Route 66 area. 50's music playing on the radio while you get your kicks on Route 66.
Flyers in the Electric Boardwalk area themed to the Golden Age of Aviation where barnstormers criss-crossed the country putting on flying circuses in their WWI surplus Jennies and Lucky Lindie had just soloed the Atlantic.

Wait Jim...are you telling me you don't want a 250-foot high, 7,000+ foot long airtime filled Intamin Plug-n-Play for Celebration City?

What kind of self-resepcting enthusiast are you?

Moosh ;)

Moosh, We rather have that Intamin at SDC rather than CC. That type of coaster at SDC would be too awesome. Wildfire at SDC is only 150 feet tall but it feels like around 200 or so becasue of the terrain its on a Hyper would be a great addition at SDC.

The best thing to do around Kansas City is to go to Branson, MO and ride the Ozark Wildcat.

Mooshster,
(wink, wink)
;)

Chrismister,
starting to think that you guys in KC need the Intamin Plug N Play to replace...
NAH !
just teasing ya ;)

Am I the only one that loves GCI's? Oh! Yea! Woody likes em too! I've ridden both Roars, Lightning Racer, and Hershey's Cat. I love them all. I love the laterals on the twisted drops, the sharp turn, pops of air, and all the twisted track.

My favorite GCI is still The Wildcat. It throws you around like a rag doll and doesn't let up until it hits the breaks.

I'm looking forwar to riding ist brother in Branson in Early June.

Maybe I'm just GCI bias since their headquarters are only 15 or so miles from my house.

It's not working.... hmm...
I guess I will PM you.

Jim - If they do put in a Morgan car ride - they better have you driving past the landmarks of route 66. With the exception of the giftshop - they are no where to be found (which disappointed me). I love the flyer ride, and I would spend most of my time on that if they got one *SNAP*

Moosh - no we don't need a Plug N Play at CC, remember there weren't P-N-Ps back in the era that they are trying to recreate. I do agree with Jim that we need one in KC to replace....;) j/k Chris

CPunk - doubtfult that you are the only one that likes woodies on the board, as for being the only one that likes GCIs (probably considering the company is called GCII).

Bill - are you trying to get on down there?

I will defend the wooden coaster enthusiast in me with this: When I create a list of my two coaster trips for the summer, I include as many woodies as I can muster from the 1920's classics to the high tech GCI, CCI masterpieces of the milllenium. It doesn't matter the manufacturer, but the creativity behind the coaster and I have yet to ride a CCI or GCI that I yawned in the exit.

DH, I'm trying... but they said CC was pretty much full for now.. so I'm gonna call June 1st.... I really want the job. I could easily get one at SDC... but... I'd rather CC for some weird reason. haha

What's wrong with SDC? You could work on some pretty cool rides there as well.

Well... now the problem is gas actually :( My parents dont want me to spend 10 dollars every time I go to work. I think it would be worth it, but they dont think so. I will definately be able to next year though, and CC will only be better then!

You car must get low gas mileage. :( Well just go get a job at Outdoor World and be done with it. ;) Nah, maybe Abercrombie or Hollister would be a better place there in Battlefield Mall.
