ok, i'm retarded (sig linkage help)

if i wanted to link to something in my sig, what's the format i'm supposed to use?  Because for some reason its just not working.  Example:

Say I want to have these lyrics as my sig:

Father Lucifer, you never looked so sane.  You did always did prefer the drizzle to the rain.

and have the word "rain" link to http://www.deadjournal.com/~ravenguy2000

what's the code i'm supposed to use for that?  And sorry if this is adressed somewhere else in the site, but the help page won't open for me for some reason, and i figured this would be the best place to ask.  like i said, i'm pretty dumb when it comes to these things.  :)
