Offseason Visit to MIA...Corkscrew is ORANGE!!

Associated parks:
None

It is almost certain now that I will be attending my first timbersfest  :)   I visited the park last year and enjoyed it but I think I would have had a lot more fun if I had enthusiast or friends there.

Chuck, looking foward to having a ball :)   BTW,  Them Dodgems are Damn good,  Just hope they run a long cycle :)

Hopefully, this year will be my first Timberfest as well.
Great to hear it guys. I'm working on organizing a nice little shin-dig for CoasterBuzzers that Saturday night of TFest.

I like the orange color better than the original white. Looking forward to Timbers Fest!

I've just seen the future...what was I saying?
Camille Jourden-Mark, vice-president of operations at Michigan's Adventure Amusement Park, said the Chaos ride will not be returning to the park.

"Our Thunderbolt (ride) is moving to the location where Chaos was, and our bumper cars are moving to where Thunderbolt was," she said.

This came from the Muskegon Chronicle.  I guess we know where rides are going now!  The whole Chaos thing is a shame.

See...I knew the Thunderbolt was staying....

Now, has there been any new work going on lately that I should know about? :)

I said: "Thats nothing–you should hear me play piano"

Heh, I'm in FL so don't look at me:)! I'm going to MIA on the way back from the airport on Monday, actually. One of the higher ups has a special delivery for me ;). What to do with three pieces of my beloved Timbers? Can we say "room decorations?" Hehe...I'm hoping to talk him into a walkback as well, we'll see. Let you know then! I sure hope its not snowing too bad...

This year's Timberfest will be my 1st ride on Shivering Timbers.  I am so anxious to ride!
OK, so now I am the proud owner of two Timbers pieces...I just had to give one of the three to my marathon buddy. I didn't get a walkback because the guy I knew wasn't there, but I did get to see the new advertising schemes. They're really cool. The new slogan is "Fun Squared" referring to the water and theme park.

In one of the ads it showed Corky with the same trains, only painted with the scheme striped red white red, rather than the red white blue we have right now.

Timbers looks SOO good. They retracked parts of it like the helix and the turnaround with new boards throughout the whole structure. I cannot wait to ride this, it is going to be incredibly smooth and fast:).

Skycoaster parts are in the parking lot waiting to go up. Only 93 days until opening, I cannot wait :)!

Went by yesterday on my b-day...had to treat myself since I was bored out of my gourd.  Flying Trapeze received a paint job as well.  The arms have a fresh red, orange and blue paint job.  Was able to get one of the carpenters to toss me a few scraps of STimbers from the dumpster as well.  Looks as if they were about to do some work on Trabant as well Kara.  Other than that the same things are going on...backhoe still sitting over in the skycoaster/water coaster area, new footers next to Corky has nada on them, and piles of dirt seem to be shuttled from here to there.  Maybe I should wait till April to make another report...hehehehe.

Till next time...

See what happens to us in the offseason. One trip report gets over 90 replies in 3 months :P
On an unrelated issue, I have the attention-span of a goldfish. I wish I had Timbers to go ride every day, but oh well, I guess I'll have to settle for that beautiful gray and blue B&M inverted (grins evily).

Trabant has some work going on, eh? I knew it! That ride deserves a certain amount of refurbishment every few years. Cedar Fair knows the value of a Chance ride.

Anyway, looks like the park is going along quite well, but it sounds like they still have a ton of things to do before it opens.

Any clue whether or not they will be redesigning the kiddie area?

no clue on the kiddie area...

went by and they are about half complete with the shell for the Dodge'm Bumper cars. the outside columns are all up and the roof trusses are nearly complete to the end. a roof and the inards are the remaining items to be finished. this is sitting smack dab in between the sky wheel and corkie. attaching the cars to trabant looks to be the finishing touches on that ride as well. snow or no snow, work continues at MIA...till the next post...

These bi-weekly visits your taking MI Trooper are quite informative. Thank you.

You want information, well I've got the low down folks. Here's all the information you need on this years new additions. The new water coaster will be called "Hydroblaster", the sky coaster will be named "Ripcord"(big surprise there), and the catering facility will go by "Mary Lynn's Group Catering Pavilion". All three of these will sit between "Adventure Falls" and "Wildwater Adventure" on the north side of the park. I believe everyone is aware of the location of "Be-Bop Blvd.", but if you're not, it will sit between "Zach's Zoomer" and the "Carousel". The go-karts will be on the north and east side of Corkie with the kiddies to the north and the adults on the east."Dodgem" bumper cars are between the giant wheel and Corkie. The "Elephants" and "Airplanes" kiddie rides will be in their original locations with the bumpers on the east side of them. The train will be named "Timbertown Railway" and the station will sit between WW and ST. They are moving dirt in that location right now...today...as we speak..errr, type. :) "Thunderbolt" of course is going to sit over the hole that "Chaos" will leave behind, and a "Long Shot Basketball" game is being added between "Hi-striker" and "Rising Waters" at Corkie's exit. At this time, they are not planning on having one distinct kiddie area like some of the other CF parks, but I was told that it may happen in the future. So there you have it folks...names and info on the new happenings this year at MIA. Oh yeah..."Trabant" also received a paint job along with "Flying Trapeze" and "Corkscrew"(previously discussed on this forum). There may be others, but at this time it is not known for certain.

I will be working on getting some construction photos in the coming weeks, but don't hold me to it. Our resident photographer and ST lover may be the one to get those. The one's she has so far are very good ones. Till next time folks...

Just while this is up...
I did visit two weeks ago and took pictures, but they are yet to be developed. As soon as they are, you'll see them! I can't wait for May 23...
