Sounds like RCT 2 has a number of errors. Hopefully a patch will be out shortly. It just makes me wonder why more testing wasn't done before release. Did they beta test?
Anyways, I wonder if the official site could have updates for the game. For instance, maybe the site could have a download that would allow you to have a holding brake on the impulse coaster.

It's a complex piece of software. All software has bugs, period, and even the greatest QA department on the planet is going to miss things. The problem is compounded by the fact that there are millions of hardware combinations out there of different processors, motherboards, memory, video cards, sound cards, etc.
I've never had 100% bug-free software on the first try, and don't expect that I ever will.

This is true. Does anyone know if they did a beta test?

I don't know, I've got a (relatively) crappy 2-year-old laptop, and the game's running fine for me.
Except that I'm awful at many of the scenarios. Can a patch fix that?

Of course they tested it! You think they're going to sell millions of copies of a car without making sure it works first?

I bougth the game on the official release date, and have had no problems. Of course I agree not to buy a prebuilt system, ie HP, Compaq, and definatly Gateway, they are to proprietary. If you have a system crash, you need the company to fix it. I built my own with these specs
Amd 2000+XP
WD harddrive
256 DDR Ram
Geforce 4 ti 4400
Soyo Dragon+ mobo
Windows XP Home
Antec SOHO 1080B case (to upgrade to a total of 7 WD 120Gb or new 200Gb HDs)
My own personal game/video/music server
Anyone who has done enough upgrading on there current system can build any system they want.
Mine cost me $700.00 at a local computer show.

Don't believe the hype. Not all systems built by big manufacturers are proprietary, and in cases where they are, it's usually only the motherboard (the only part that has never failed on me). We just got new Dell's at work, and what do you know, the guts are all standard, right down to an ATX motherboard.

I dont have any problems with Dells. Those are the only systems I think that I would buy.
I know for a fact at the place that I work they started out using only Gateways for there systems, they were not to trustworthy for our network. Then they switched to Microns and that was not much better, and finally to a simple Toshiba system that is not doing to bad.
My friend at work, who is the IT tech, says that he has been trying to get Dells, but the company wont fork out the cash for them. They are a little pricy, but I prefer to build my own for a little cheaper, so that I know what to do if something goes wrong.

Well, if we are all up for computer talk here, I have an old 1999 custom built gateway and the game works fine. Sure, it can run a little slow, but it runs almost just as fast as RCT.
If you are wondering how much space I have left on my computer, well, I had to uninstall 3 games to just install RCT2.
Just my advice, buy a gateway, but customize it. That's what we did and it's still running great. The only bad thing about computers is that they become outdated so quickly. A new computer will probably be coming this way sometime soon because I don't know if it can keep up with the new software.

Past computers I've had were ones that I have built. Other than my first actual PC (a Packard Hell...thank god they are gone), and my Commadore 64. However my newest one is a Gateway, which I used to be against, and it's a nice machine. I have had no software/hardware conflicts that I've had with past "Frankenstein" machines. I am a Computer Engineering major and I too can say that it is incredibly difficult to make a program so complex run on a number of different machines. Give them a little time to get the patch out, it's not easy.
CPlady, it sounds like you need more RAM. It's a very easy thing to install. I suggest you invest in some, its rather cheap right now too, and it will improve your system performance greatly.
