Number of trains running on a given coaster

1) Those dont really count because they cant be added in a matter of a minute if needed.

2) I dont think you needed to quote me, because you posted RIGHT after me, no one in between.

(fine, i won't quote ... gar.)

1: there was no requirement beyond *having* the train(s).

2: because i don't feel like attributing or referencing all of my content with paraphrase, *i* think i needed to quote you.

on a side note, running with two trains would have made viewing of deja vu easier.

Beat him down Rob!   j/k
Anyways, the only reason why I didn't count Eagle is only because our cert badge has it listed as 2 (I did think about it!).

The picture on PGA's site shows an older ride. Delirium however, looks amazing!

Not MLK's words but mine..I have a Dream! I have a DREAM! I HAVE A DREAM!
I have a dream! That SFMM fans will be able to walk hand in hand with CP's!
AND no ONE cares what a coaster is and what a coaster isn't!

hey...there's another ride with more than 2 trains that u all forgot. It's not a big ride anymore, it's popularity is deminished, but it's the shockwave. The shockwave has 3 trains. Whether they can run with all 3 on i'm not sure, but they do have 3 trains. A thing about rides running lower with low staffing, that wouldnt' make sense. At batman we can run with very little people in the station having 2 trains on AND one train. It's probably the same with most other rollercoasters cause they are all pretty much the same.

Arock, I said it!  Ahahahahahahaha! :)

I said:

Each of the following rides has three trains (but rarely uses them, excluding Raging Bull): Bull, Demon, Shockwave and Whizzer.

Scroll up to see it.

You all need to stop arguing with each other.

Some parks will choose to only run one train if there aren't enough people to adequately run it.  At the Batman at SFOG, it takes about 3 or 4 people to run 2 trains, if there are only 2 attendants, you can't load trains fast enough and there's no point in running two at once, so they'll cut it out.  But I haven't heard of this happening in a long time, and like I said, the park tries to run with as many trains as possible per coaster.
oh well, i didn't see it, it wasn't stressed enough. and hogfat, i know that u are george now cause of the way u are talkin. Calm down mr. gutt-jancowski, u don't have to be technical about everything.
I WILL!
Oh, I can't wait until next weeks episode!

I mean, I know I'm involved, but I must know what is going on.  Sure it sounds selfish, but it's ME, ME, ME! :)

I worked Magnum at CP from May 30 until August 24 and we ran three trains open to close every day.  There was one 15-30 minute period where we ran two because of a problem with one of the trains, but I was at entrance for that, so I never experienced two train operation.  As far as who makes the decision, I believe that the crew calls supervision and they give the final approval or I'm sure that the crew can be told by them to add/remove a train at any time.  Honestly I could be wrong though since the only time I ever transferred trains was at opening or closing, never during operation.  I did see two train operation on Magnum when I went back closing weekend and there weren't many people in the park.  On that day when temps were in the 40's, Raptor had 3, MF 2 in the morning and then 3, and Mantis 2.  Gemini/Mine Ride change their number of trains quite a bit based on time of day/crowd size.  So yes, very early and very late in the season you might see a few rides at CP running at less than full capacity, but during the busy months of June, July August and probably a lot before and after that, the major coasters all run with 3.

2001 Magnum Crew

Wait a minute...The ride op crew adds and removes the trains at Cedar Point?  That is scarey.
At sfgadv the ride op crews can add and remove trains on their own as long as there is a supervisor and a mechanic present.
while the sup and the mechanic are there.....y don't they just have the mechanic do it so they are sure not to have a screw up or failure in the ride.
the ride's crew might be trained to add/remove the trains.  Heck, I think it would be cool to do that.

Whenever I have seen a train being added or removed from a track, it was always the mechanics that do it.  For example, one day at Carowinds, one of the restraint systems on one of the Vortex broke.  The ride opps called the mechanics to remove the train from the track and when it was fixed, the mechanics put it back on.  If the ride opps could do it, I'm sure they would have removed the train from the track while they were waiting for the mechanics instead of holding up the line.

So...you can't handle a rollercoaster huh? Well...you ARE the Weakest Link! Goodbye!

Rob obviously they are trained to or they wouldn't be allowed to do it.  I was stating I thought it a better idea for maintainence to be doing stuff like that.
