Looks like there are three new coasters: Vekoma Flying Dutchman, Gerstlauer Eurofighter 2 and the Gerstlauer Spinning Coaster. Some design tweaks have been made to the restraints on the Schwartzkopf looping trains, and all the other trains, tracks, and hardware are more detailed.
I'm guessing that they are trying out the new water effects in this update as well.

Excavated tunnels! More color control! A bigger piece of land to build on! *** Edited 9/6/2006 2:27:13 PM UTC by Acoustic Viscosity***

I want to be able to ride my Voyage model without having to fold it to fit the "limits" of the virtual land.

A day at the park is what you make it!
I think if they had us pay for the NoLimits version that first included wood coasters, I would have dropped the dough on it. Although, for all the updates we've seen for free for the last 4-5 years I still think I'll buy it.

More new features than just the new coaster styles!

The improvements sound impressive... however, I don't know if that's going to be enough for me to really invest in it since it's still a simulation that's basically the same with a few new goodies. I'd like to know how improved the sound is, and if the graphical touches are not only improved, but how well they run maxed out with a decent O/S specs.

Someone do an unbiased critical review once they get it.
I'd like to get it, but I really need to know if it's worth it. I played it heavily when it came out in 2001, but haven't really touched it in the past two years except to ride a few pre-made creations from others. Hopefully this will renew my interest (especially for what will feel like a loooooong off-season).
First, ordered it at 7:00pm EST yesterday, did not get a key or a download link until 12:30am EST. It took a little time, but after that there was no problems. Just keep waiting, the email did say 12-24 hours to process.
I really can't review it totally unbiased, but I can try my best. If the question is should I buy the update, I would answer yes. The train stlyes, to me, are worth the price. The Flyers are cool although bring my FPS down to it's knees. For a reference, I'm on a Pentium 4 2.8ghz using a Radeon 9250 PCI video card with 1.5gb of RAM. I could only muster about 20 FPS on the 2 included Flyer tracks. The wild mouse coasters (2) are awesome, and there's some serious "cool ride" potential. Sure, they make me dizzy in POV mode, but that's a small price to pay.
Oh, and speaking of camera modes, the two new ones are incredible, espically if you use FRAPS to make videos. Tracking View follows the coaster through the track making quick camera changes that are fully automatic. Target View places the camera in a stationary position and follows the train around for a good effect. And then there's motion blur. It didn't work very well for me, and was more disorenting than anything, but I have yet to play with the options.
Water looks cool, but that's a cosmetic difference and it dampens my FPS on this comp. The revamped trains also look cool, but they don't do anything new. Purley cosmetic. The footers look cool, and the new tunnels look like the ones on Magnum. Very nice.
The built in smoother doesn't work very well. It becomes availble when you select 2 or more segments. For a few rough parts it works okay, but forget trying to go over an entire rough track with it. When you do try to smooth an entire track, it disorts it. The new split and desplit options work decent, too, but I don't use them enough to worry about it.
The sounds are nice, and while I'm not sure if any of them changed, they didn't seem as annoying to me as they did in 1.5.
Lemme see... I think that's it for this update. New trains, revamped trains, new cameras, new smoother, sounds... that's all I can think of. Any more questions, post em here and I'll try and get back to you.
