No more suspended?!?

FoF, just because Arrow says XLR-8 was the "first" doesnt' mean it was necessarily so. I remember the articles in the trades about the difficulties with the Bat and it's untimely demise. It was the first and only first generation suspended, and not surprisingly, Arrow chooses not to publicly acknowledge it.

"Arrow currently has ten suspended coasters in operation all over the world."

I count nine in operation

from RCDB;

1. Big Bad Wolf @ BGW
2. Eagle Fortress in Soutn Korea
3. Hayabusa in Japan
4. Iron Dragon @ CP
5. Ninja @ SFMM
6. Top Gun @ PKI
7. Vampire in England
8. Vortex @ PCW
9. XLR-8 @ SFAW

Where's the operational tenth???

Maybe they should make a suspended coaster that locks in the middle during points in the ride so it could do inversions

Just a thought

We do its called a inverted coaster.

I dont think that they is really a way to have suspended coaster cars lock in the middle only during certain parts of the ride, maybe if it was locked the whole time, but that would defeat the purpose of a suspended coaster. I say if you want below the track loopers, stick with inverted coasters.

I think with the 4-D, Arrow has proven that they can control the position of seats on a ride. They could possibly use that same technology to control the position of the trains on a suspended in order to do a loop.

I have heard from somewhere that the prototype of the prototype (Aka - The Bat) of the suspended coaster had a loop for a single car train. But don't trust me on this one...

There was a small MODEL of a suspended that had an inversion on it. I think it was a a corkscrew, but it's been a LONG time since I've seen it. It was on 3-2-1-Contact if I'm remembering my distant childhood correctly.

Asking why suspended coasters dont loop WAS just like asking why woodies don't loop. They could find a way, i'm sure, but i just don't think anyone's interested, with so may inverteds out there.
