Sounds like you guys had fun - thanks for the update!
Awesome update...thanks!

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!
By the way, any mention of Visionland at NCC? I know they're redoing their flume ride with a dinosaur theme, but was there any other talk or news?

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!
nope...they weren't even mentioned...they are _well_ outside of the chicago area market

All parks that were mentioned during the day are in my notes...the only things that were left out of my notes were home vids and trip presentations *** Edited 1/18/2004 5:51:26 AM UTC by redman822***

George. I wouldn't exactly call Kennywood in the Chicago area market but that is on your list of people pitching their respective parks.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

true but they (sorta) try to get themselves added as a "side trip" to CedarPoint.

She even said, at one point during her presentation, "Stop on by...we're only a couple hours away from that big park in Ohio..."

Very true. :)

Looks like SFGAm is going all out for this year. The area in question that they are going to re-vamp is overdue for a makover and some rides.

This completes the park as far as I am concerned.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

Everyone was very amped about the new GM. He appeared to have a real sense of enthusiasm and didn't pull punches even when it came to "criticizing" GAm.

He made fun of the (as he put it) "Camoflage paint job" on DejaVu and when he was asked it DJV was going to be working reliably at the beginning of the year, he said he hoped so, but perhaps that is why it was camoflaged so noone would see the coaster. ;)

Goerge. Did they say exactly where the mouse coaster would be installed? Would the chicken restaurant in that area be removed for it?

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

I am so happy SFGAm is getting all these things in one year! I expected the new flats and mouse and was thrilled about it, and now we are getting new paint jobs and a revamped area! I am still shocked. By the way Chitown, I love your signature.

Cripes, Santa was good to Great America this year! I don't think any park has done that well for one season, save for Geauga's rebranding year. Wow.

Even just the new paint sounds great...

That's very good news, but no news about Winterfest? As Mr. Seibert said closing night: "wink, wink."

Looks like SFWoA has been reading our threads ;).

I'm definitely pleased to hear that. It'll be interesting to see how it works for them. It's a big step in the right direction, and hopefully it'll help.

Looks like I'll have to visit WoA afew times next year to see how it's working.

I think the coolest (not "Best", but coolest) news in there is that Paramount extended the 50% off admission to all parks. W00t!

The only thing I can see wrong with it is -- is this too little too late? I heard lots of negative feedback from patrons (GP) when I visited there last summer. I just hope that the park hasn't dug themselves TOO BIG of a hole that they won't be able to climb out of it.

Did IB say where the land was that they bought?
Thanks for the excellant update!!!!
Did they mention anything else about the ert nights for season passholders???
And did they offer any details about the ace event???
Swoosh - The park is still open and had about 2million visitors this past year. They're not totally burried yet.

If they can keep their numbers from dropping at the rate they are, they might have a shot. Might take 5-6+ years to get their numbers up to a decent level again, but they've gotta start somewhere.
