I really hope this is not true and sort of doubt it. Maybe they will set it at like 7 G's or something high, so it won't really matter, but it will really suck if they make the like like 3 or something! The other problem is, this might rub off on other states and then they might copy. In my opinion, this would be really unnecessary and I hope its just a rumor. I wish Markey would find a new cause to complain about, like the dangers of bowling.

ChiTown, I *think* there are no coasters in Joisey that would exceed these limits....if there were, it's likely they'd be grandfathered in, or some politicians would suffer the wrath of some seriously PO'd (and wealthy) constituents. I'm assuming these (3, 6, 1.5) are the numbers. 3 laterals and 1.5 negative would be seriously uncomfortable for most, anyway.
If I recall correctly, Taz would be the only US coaster in the relevant range....but what I really want to know from our resident physics experts is this....What on Earth would the Flip Flap Railway or Loop the Loop have pulled - I'm thinking it had to be at least 8-9, but as you may know (if you've been playing along), I'm a *guesser*...
On the other hand if people don’t really pay attention to this it might end up like video games did. The regulations that at certain stores (mainly chain ones) and on all box art, there is a rating system on the games and if you are not 17+ then you can’t buy certain games. They had that senate hearing a ways back on trying to ban certain games such a Mortal Kombat and other fighting games due to their “extreme” nature, which never passed. (Thankfully or any game that anyone would play would have smiling bunnies and flowers and dancing) But to continue the story; during the presidential election time a man named Joseph Leberman claimed he made/helped the video game industry change it’s way from corrupting the youth of America. Our good old buddy Mr. Ed Markey could do the same thing next time elections come around to try to get a vice nomination (that is if the G-force Bill ever became National Law) or he could try to nab a governor spot in his state, then try to bounce off from that to jockey for more power. All of this could happen if states decide to follow Mr. Markey’s master plan to take out the “dangers of roller coasters.” I this was accomplished he could forever use a one liner that said I took on the amusement industry head on and won and now it is a safer place because of my realization of the evils of the business. (Basically un-informed people would think he tackles major issues and win them where no one else can.)
Put a stop to his non-sense......
Dustin

What makes me laugh is its NJ that will announce this not the state he is in, for this to pass they would have to have a majority vote so its not only Markey as everyone here thinks or is he the only one that voted for this in NJ when he is not even a congress man from there. It seems there are more than just Markey or this would have never passed.
As for making threats about kidnapping him that's real intelligent making threats about a goverment worker in this day and age.

80 coasters and soon to be more
Life is a roller coaster Ride It!
Remember, too, that we are not talking "sustainable" g's either. The limitations are based also on how long those forces are applied consistently. i.e. 4 seconds of 6 g's isn't as bad as 10 seconds of 6 g's.
I don't think the legislation will affect coasters currently in operation. I do think it will limit what we'll see in the future.
