Next RMC Transformation

That are all better than Mean Streak? Is it really that bad? Tyler, stop being so mean to Mean Streak :P!

I think if Mean Streak were to get this treatment, it would help offset Mavericks line. Mavericks line can get ugly long, but there isn't anything else back in that area to balance things out.

I would like to think that Skyhawk does, but the lines for that are surprisingly not all that bad most of the time.

I will guess its The Boss at SFStL. lol

Bite your tongue. Leave The Boss just as it is!!

Are you MAN ENOUGH to ride this ride ?

I'd love to see RMC top the Mean Streak track. I didn't have that bad experience with Mean Streak in terms of roughness at all (Hurler at KD was much much worse for me...what a POS), but it was a very vibrate-y, shuffling, meandering ride. I honestly was bored. I think those high-up lateral turns on Mean Streak would be terrifying with Iron Horse tracking (in the best possible way). Then maybe they could also remove that ridiculous trim at the top of the lift. I swear we actually STOPPED while hanging over the drop and then dragged along the track the whole way down.

I'd love to see it too. Mean Streak, that is. I've seen teenage girls getting off that ride crying.

Unfortunately, I don't think CP will be making any sort of large coaster investment any time soon. They'll be riding Gatekeeper's coattails for a long time. My best guess, 2016 is when we'll see it. (*IF* we're going to see it.)

If they ever decide to actually redo Mean Streak Iron-horse style (or even topper track), I'm sure they will wait a long time to see how the other conversions act over a few years time (wear/tear, comfort, money, etc.)

Is that sarcasm, Billy? ;)

I must say, Jeff, I always have the same observation about SkyHawk. During its first year the lines could get fairly large, but since then not so much. I thought that many guests would use it as a "free hair dryer" from the water rides.

I would love to see Mean Streak get the redo, but like mentioned above, I don't see it happening anytime soon. That's a huge investment, and I would like to think there will be a family-ride-focus before any more coasters after Gatekeeper.

While I think MS would benefit greatly from the smoothness of a RMC transformation....it's still desperately in need of a re-profile IMO. Not enough HiLlS on the second half of the ride.

It's funny you say that, because I always tell people the ride only has three drops.

Nope.

I've rode Mean Streak once...
My friend puked on it. Haven't ridden it since, but I will this season.

See, this is what you get when you trust your roller coaster design to someone who never set foot on one. :-)

Of the original fraternal twins, Texas Giant was the superior ride. Early on it was also plagued with rider complaints, but for roughness and extreme forces. I remember a coaster enthusiast gathering that first season where participants took one or two rides then sat the rest of ERT out. A little tweaking here and there and TG was rideable and enjoyable. It was one of my favorites for a while, then it fell to roughness again.
When Mean Streak came along it was almost as if we could hear the conversation. Cedar Point: "Yes, give us one of those, please, but make it taller. Oh, and it has to be real smooth, none of that roughness" and Mean Streak was what they got. In the interest of smoothness, a less than thrilling ride that for some reason still needed re-profiling. Ugh.
I always ride it, but it's a little like Kentucky Fried Chicken- always seems like a good idea at the time. Afterwards, not so much. I go ahead and wait for the front seat where the ride is at least tolerable.
I think a TG/Iron Horse treatment is just what Mean Streak needs. It would make the ride fast, thrilling, and less of a maintenance concern. It would also add extra oomph to the back end of the park, a nice red- tracked step sister for Maverick. I don't care if it inverts, and I especially don't care if CP's roster will once again include only one wooden coaster. Go ahead, close the ride for 2014, we'll ride Gatekeeper and the rest of em in the meantime. Fix it then reopen as a "new" ride in '15. The timing will be perfect.

Or build a totally new RMC at Dorney. Sha! And monkeys might fly out of my butt. It's nice to dream though, right?

Actually, Hercules is one of those that might have done really well with a RMC make-over....the lateral-heavy first turn off the drop is exactly the kind of trackage that would be helped.

Oh, and the "old" Texas Giant....was everything Mean Streak coulda shoulda been....IMO. Then again, I never found the "OG" to be too rough....aggressive as all get out, with ALL the hills that MS lacks. Virtually every bit of turning track on that thing went up or down a hill...or both.

I think they could have turned SoB into a great ride with RMC's Iron Horse track. Steeper first drop, double up into a 90* banked turn, hit 90* on the helix, shorten the MCBR, double down off of that, loop, double up into a beyond 90* turn (take out the rest of the 2nd helix), then a few bunny hops home.

Mean Streak could have the Texas Giant/Rattler treatment and be a lot of fun. I've never found it rough, just boring.

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

It seems as if SOB's helix was turning papa's signature move into too much of a good thing.

Maverick is the only ride at CP that continually has an overbearingly long line. That's gonna change. Gatekeeper will help shorten the lines at the back of the park. (Maverck, Magnum, Gemini, Mean Streak, Sky Hawk, the water rides, etc.) I predict Wicked Twister will be injected with longer lines. MaXair will too. As Cedar Point says themselves: The fun is at the gate.
