Next looping Woodie

Do you think...

there will be another one?
where will it be?
what kind of inversion will it have?
I seriously doubt there would be one. If there is it would probably be in the UK or Japan. It would probably have your basic loop.

I don't think that many US parks are interested in it. Besides if they want a looping coaster, they can just buy a steelie. It can do more and maintence isn't as expensive.

It's my opinion!
You ain't going to change it!
Why even try?

O agree. The idea was good but if you want a looping coaster, go with a steel, its cheaper

You are the Weakest Link, Goodbye.
God, I hope not! The very concept of having a loop on a woodie removes the classicness, if that's a word, from the coaster. Even new woodies are built to be reminiscent of the coasters from the 1920s. A looping woodie destroys that tradition. SoB's loop was PKI's gimmick to make it a first, and hopefully it will be the last.

Yes! MAKE SOB LAST! I know I yelled that, too. Don't tell me not to yell. I wanted to yell that. The loop in it is a gimmick. Maybe if a park really wants to be noticed it would, but I doubt parks would get as much attention by that now, since one park has one. They would go with something totally new (can anyone say stand-up inverted?)

I hate noise in these message boards.
Stand Up Inverted, never gonna happen. Think of the G's children, why won't you think of the g's? Anyways, I don't think we will see looping woodies for a while, unless someone goes to top PKI...........

Coasters- a little slice of heaven
Craig, I meant that as a joke. Although I put it in a way that it is hard to tell. Oh well, everyone, when I said stand-up inverted, it is a joke!

Maybe at Jazzland in New Orleans, They dont have very many coasters.
I actually hope there are more looping woodies. Yes you read right. And this is just my speculation and i will be the first one to say this, i think CP will get the next looping woodie. As for different types of inversions, i hope we see them in the future (corkscrews and zero-g rolls hopefully, cause that would open up the door for any other inversion like a dive loop, immelman and cobra roll)

-------------
CP in 2002, get to the point
Nope, not going to happen, there is just to much trouble with it, and come on a corba roll?

SFGAm: SCREAM. THRILL. REPEAT. Two New Coasters in 2001!
The day I see a zero g roll on a woodie is the day I die! I think SOB has a loop as a gimmick and to let people remeber that is was a real cool and unique ride, plus when SF bought GL and CP announced MF, I think PKI knew they needed to do something earth sharrtering themsleves , a loop on a woodie!

My Signature Sucks
Zero G Roll on a woddie?!?!? thats the funniest thing ive heard all day!
Todd, SOB was not a response to MF or at the time the new SFO. I'm sure that PKI spent a lot of time planning SOB and it would take a long time for something of that size to be a response to MF. I'm not meaning to start anything here but why does everybody attack SOB and say that the loop is a gimmick? Why don't people go around saying that CP jus built MF for the height and to say we have a coaster over 300 feet tall? I personally think that SOB is a great coaster and people should just leave it alone.
Cedar Point will not build a looping woodie. They do not copy what PKI puts in, nor does PKI copy CP. We have to remember that a "looping woddie" can be misunderstood. The loop on SOB is not wood track, it's steel...that goes back into wood.

The track in the loop IS wood, the structure that supports the track is steel. At first, I thought the same thing as you, Martling, but someone else corrected me a while back.

I hope the looping woodie has the same fate as the Arrow Pipeline coaster. No more!!

"X" marks the spot in 2001!
I don't care about world records, and I don't have any particular thoughts on PKI (never been there), but I hope there is one record that they do keep...

Home of the worlds ONLY looping wooden coaster.

Since it HAD to be done, its been done. Now let's forget the whole idea and move on!

Who knows... maybe someday they will reprofile that ride... and then there will be NO wooden looping coasters! (yeah, its a long shot, but we can dream)

"Resistance is futile... you will be assimilated." The BORG's (and Six Flags') motto.
I pray to god we never see a looping woodie again. Woodies are already becoming scarce and now they are giving them steel coaster elements. Let's hope that the problems with SOB changed a lot of coaster designers minds.

Why did that Pipeline coaster never 'take off'??

That had a kind of neat design and concept. I would like to have one of those. :) Maybe that is what Arrow is trying to perfect after all these years.

Could A Corkscrew be done on a woodie ?
I doubt it due to they way thatelement sort of "Bends" the train.
